Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Director of the Department of Transport and Public Works (DGTCC) of Ho Chi Minh City said that the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River has a unique architectural design in the shape of a water coconut leaf - a familiar cultural symbol of the Southern region.

The first point of the bridge on the District 1 side is at Bach Dang Wharf Park (about 125m south of Me Linh Square), the remaining point on the Thu Duc City side is at the Riverside Park area, Thu Thiem New Urban Area (intersection of Nguyen Thien Thanh and N14 streets).

The bridge has a total length of about 720m, a cross-section of 6-11m; crossing the Saigon River with a span of 187m, and a clearance of 10m. The bridge has a steel arch structure, the first of its kind in Vietnam, and is one of the most unique and impressive pedestrian bridges in the world.

During the implementation process, the design consultant and Japanese experts carefully calculated the design, taking into account the effects of wind, earthquakes, ship collisions, and organized wind tunnel experiments abroad to ensure absolute safety for the project, as well as meet particularly high requirements on aesthetics.

The representative of the project sponsor said that the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River is a gesture of gratitude and dedication from Nutifood to the people of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the people of the whole country in general.

“With the hope that the bridge will soon become a reality, we have worked hard with partners and authorities to shorten the preparation time while still ensuring quality and safety. Up to now, the project has met the conditions to start construction 1 month ahead of schedule,” said the investor representative.

The investor is committed to ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards and bringing the project to completion on schedule.
