Mong Cai City is focusing on solutions and resources to complete the component indicators on economic restructuring and the rate of households using clean water as set out in the Resolution of the 24th Mong Cai City Party Congress, term 2020-2025.

Agriculture currently accounts for 13% of the city's economic structure. To achieve the goals set out in the Resolution, the city is focusing on promoting the development of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the direction of improving the quality and value of products, increasing products associated with the New Rural Development Program.

The city has developed and implemented the Project on restructuring the agricultural, forestry and fishery production sector towards promoting local advantages, increasing value and sustainable development; maintaining an average planting area of ​​over 5,200 hectares/year; developing concentrated livestock farming, with an average annual herd of 235,000 heads; planting over 1,858 hectares of new forests, raising the forest coverage rate to 41.3% (exceeding the Resolution target by 0.3%). The New Rural Development Program has achieved an average income per capita for 9 communes of 74.8 million VND/person/year, 1.6 times higher than the period (2015-2020). Mong Cai City has effectively implemented concentrated production plans; initially piloted and expanded production chains associated with the development of OCCOP products. Up to now, the city has 27 Mong Cai pig breeding, aquaculture, fishing cooperatives and 28 agricultural cooperatives and 57 farms with high economic efficiency. The city has 7 participating economic organizations with 42 OCOP products, of which 20 products meet 3 to 4 star standards at the provincial level. In particular, Mong Cai has 3 agricultural products granted protection certificates by the Department of Intellectual Property, including: White-leg shrimp, Tra Co crab, Mong Cai pig... The production value of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector increases by an average of 3.37% per year.

The Resolution of the 24th Mong Cai City Party Congress, term 2020-2025, set a target of striving for over 99% of rural households using hygienic water by 2025; the rate of urban households using clean water will reach 100%. Up to now, in the group of environmental indicators, only the indicator on the rate of urban households using clean water has not been met.

With the determination to complete this target by the end of the term, Mong Cai City has mobilized many resources to invest in urban and rural clean water supply infrastructure; upgrading, expanding the network and improving water quality, building and effectively exploiting water plants and stations, investing in comprehensive and modern water supply infrastructure in urban areas, resettlement areas, industrial parks, etc.

As one of the two units supplying domestic water to people in Mong Cai City, in 2023, Mong Cai Water Enterprise (Quang Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company) connected 16,350m of service pipes in the area. Since the beginning of the year, the enterprise has invested in 18,200/21,000m of clean water supply pipes for people in the communes and wards of Hai Yen, Ninh Duong, Hai Hoa and Hai Xuan. At the same time, it connected clean water to 859 households, bringing the total number of households using water under the contract to 11,820 households.

In addition, the Enterprise has taken over the management of water supply for 224 households in Vinh Trung commune according to the project handed over by Mong Cai City; received and handed over the management and operation of the water supply system to Forestry 27 (Economic - Defense Group 327). It is expected that in 2024, Mong Cai Water Enterprise will construct more than 30,000m of service pipes, exceeding the plan by 42.8%; connecting for about 1,000 customer households, increasing the number of customers connected in the year to more than 2,000 households.

With the efforts of the entire political system, up to now, the rate of people using clean water and hygienic water for daily life in Mong Cai city has achieved many positive results. The rate of using hygienic water for rural residents has reached 100%, the rate of urban residents using clean water has increased rapidly, reaching 90.8%, an increase of 50.88% over the same period in 2023. From now until the end of the year, the city strives for the rate of clean water use in wards to reach over 95% and the rate of communes and households using clean water through centralized water supply stations to reach over 90%. By 2025, the rate of clean water in urban areas will reach 100% and clean water in rural areas will reach 99%.
