Last month, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stressed that “any violation of Armenia’s territorial integrity would be unacceptable and would have serious consequences” for the EU’s relations with Azerbaijan.

Armenia's First Channel News reported that in response to the above statement, during a meeting with the German economic delegation, President Aliyev criticized Mr. Borrell's comments as "a hidden threat to Azerbaijan", while affirming that Baku has no plans to attack Armenia and is committed to peace negotiations.

Armenia has expressed concern about a further Azerbaijani offensive after Baku seized control of Nagorno-Karabakh in a lightning raid last September.

After this campaign, all of the more than 100,000 Armenians who left Nagorno-Karabakh fled to Armenia.

President Aliyev made the statement as the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan held peace talks in Berlin, Germany, to resolve the decades-long conflict between the two neighboring countries in the Caucasus region.

Earlier, Yerevan and Baku confirmed plans to hold a meeting in Berlin to resolve bilateral issues, following a tripartite agreement brokered by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Munich, Germany, earlier this month.
