At exactly 4:50 p.m., the motorcade carrying US President Joe Biden entered the Presidential Palace. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed US President Joe Biden.
The two sides introduced the officials present at the welcoming ceremony. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited US President Joe Biden to step up to the podium of honor. Military bands played the national anthems of both countries.

This is the first time a US President has paid a state visit at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries. It also continues the tradition of nearly 30 years of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong led the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation and US President Joe Biden led the US high-ranking delegation to hold talks at the Party Central Committee Headquarters.
