This event is not only an important highlight in the film industry but also associated with the country's historical milestones, taking place on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

The main objective of the Festival is to introduce and honor outstanding cinematographic works from all over the world, while creating opportunities for exchange and connection between domestic and international filmmakers, artists, and film distributors. HANIFF VII is also a playground to discover new talents, contributing to the development of Vietnamese and international cinema.
The film festival will include a variety of programs such as: competition films, non-competition films, in-depth discussions, opening and closing ceremonies, and many other activities to create opportunities for connection and creativity for the film industry.
Among them, the competition film program includes works selected from many cinemas around the world, including feature films, short films, and AFCNet's honorary award for the best feature film from member countries of the Asian Film Commission Network.
In addition, the non-competition film program will feature films from "World Cinema Panorama", "German Cinema Spotlight" (celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations), and contemporary Vietnamese films, especially works about Hanoi on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
HANIFF VII also organizes two in-depth seminars, including one on German cinema on November 8, to share lessons learned on how to exploit humanistic and social themes in German cinema.
The second panel discussion, taking place on November 9, will focus on issues of developing films exploiting historical themes and adapting literary works, and discuss solutions to improve the quality and development of historical films.
The red carpet and awards ceremony are also highlights of the Festival. The opening ceremony will take place on November 7 with the opening film screening at the National Cinema Center, followed by a spectacular red carpet in front of the Hoan Kiem Theater and the official opening ceremony. The closing ceremony and awards ceremony will be held on November 11, at the same location, to honor the best works and artists.
In addition to the main activities, the Festival also offers many other attractive events such as photo exhibitions on Vietnamese heritages recognized by UNESCO, film project markets, and outdoor film screenings serving a large audience.
The 2024 Hanoi International Film Festival promises to be a unique cultural event, creating conditions for creative exchange and strong development of domestic and international cinema.
