Organizing the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

The funeral of the General Secretary will be held at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi , from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 25 and from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 26.

On July 24, the Central Party Office sent a document to central agencies, provincial and municipal Party committees, agencies, organizations, and enterprises regarding the attendance at the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

To ensure the solemn and safe organization of the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Central Party Office announces the visiting hours and some information for agencies and localities to prepare and notify members of the delegation to implement.

Specifically, visiting delegations must bring chip-embedded citizen identification cards or phones with VNeID installed and activated at level 2 to scan the QR code when entering the funeral area.

The delegations arranged cars to go together to the funeral area. The funeral organizing committee prepared wreaths.

In addition to delegations from ministries, localities and agencies, the Funeral Organizing Committee will facilitate arrangements for people to visit General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at appropriate times on July 25 and 26.

The funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held according to the State funeral protocol. The coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was laid to rest at the National Funeral House No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The funeral of the General Secretary will be held at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 25 and from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 26.

The funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 26 at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

Funeral at 3:00 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.

The funeral and memorial services for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be held at the same time at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City and at the General Secretary's hometown in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam will broadcast live the funeral, memorial service and burial ceremony of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

During the two days of National Mourning (July 25 and 26, 2024), agencies, offices, and public places will fly flags at half-mast and no public entertainment activities will be organized.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Dong Anh district also issued a notice on organizing the funeral and memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his hometown of Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

The venue is at Lai Da Village Cultural House, Dong Hoi Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi City.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a press release on the funeral and memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Thong Nhat Hall.

Accordingly, the delegations coming to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have assigned Heads of Delegation; the masses come to pay their respects according to the arrangement of the Organizing Committee; when coming to pay their respects, they must wear formal, dark, and serious clothes according to the National Funeral protocol (students, workers, civil servants, public employees, and laborers wear uniforms according to their school or unit).

Delegations and people coming to pay their respects do not bring wreaths, fruits, incense, or candles. Individuals must bring their Citizen ID (or other personal identification), do not bring handbags, and only bring a funeral ribbon (size: 80cm long x 15cm high, black, white letters), with the name of the unit written on it to attach to the rotating wreath prepared by the Organizing Committee.
