Seven bodies found in Chinese fishing boat capsized in Indian Ocean

On May 22, China Central Television (CCTV) reported that seven bodies had been found in the Chinese fishing vessel "Lupeng Yuanyu 028" that capsized in the Indian Ocean last week.

On May 22, China Central Television (CCTV) reported that seven bodies had been found in the Chinese fishing vessel " Lupeng Yuanyu 028 " that capsized in the Indian Ocean last week.

There were 39 Chinese, Indonesian and Filipino crew members on board. It is not yet clear which crew members have been found.

According to CCTV, countries participating in the rescue operation along with China include Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Maldives and the Philippines. China's Ministry of Transport said that Sri Lankan divers have found and recovered debris from the ship. The wreckage is currently drifting east.

The incident occurred in the early morning of May 16, when the fishing vessel "Lupeng Yuanyu 028" owned by Penglai Jinglu Fishery Company based in Shandong Province capsized in the Indian Ocean. There were a total of 39 people on board, including 17 Chinese sailors, 17 Indonesians, and 5 Filipinos.

On May 18, China’s Ministry of Transport confirmed that at least two people had died, while the rest were still missing. A total of 13 ships, including three Chinese naval vessels and two foreign vessels, were involved in the search for the ship./.
