The new feature was announced on September 15 through a post on the Threads platform, which said users can now enable notifications to follow a thread for 24 hours. The feature is specific to the mobile app and not for web users.
Threads adds more features to compete with other social networks
The news was shared by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who said "this isn't the only feature the platform is rolling out this week. On the web, you can now also quote other posts on Threads," according to PhoneArena .
To follow a thread and get notified when someone replies to it, just tap the bell in the top right of the thread. When someone replies, you'll get a notification in your activity tab.
If you're concerned about privacy, know that there's no way for anyone to know that you're following that topic. Plus, you can turn off notifications at any time by tapping the bell icon again.
This is the latest feature the platform has rolled out to its users in an effort to combat the decline in daily active users. One of the most notable recent features is Keyword Search, which was missing from the platform when it launched.
Previously, social networking platform X planned to offer video and audio calling features as billionaire Elon Musk rushed to build an "everything app" to stay ahead of competition from Meta Platforms' Threads.
