Accordingly, the bridge is more than 2m wide and more than 50m long and has been completed, with a protective railing system and lighting poles on both sides.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ut - residing in Binh Thanh District (HCMC) said he was very excited when the pedestrian bridge across Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal was put into use.

"Before, when moving through District 1, I had to walk towards Dien Bien Phu Bridge or Thi Nghe Bridge, which took a lot of time. Now with this pedestrian bridge, people and tourists can move back and forth easily, exercise, and admire the most beautiful canal in the city," Mr. Ut shared.

Speaking to VietNamNet reporter , Mr. Bui Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB) said that this pedestrian bridge connecting Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street (District 1) and Truong Sa Street (Binh Thanh District) cost more than 10 billion VND. After completing the acceptance work, the project will be put into operation to serve the travel needs of the people.

According to Mr. Thanh, this project is part of the overall 220kV Tao Dan - Tan Cang underground cable project, with an investment of more than 500 billion VND. This project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation and SPMB is assigned to represent the investor and manage the project.

"Currently, the 220kV Tao Dan - Tan Cang underground cable project has been completed. The pedestrian bridge project across Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal, after finalizing costs and acceptance, will be handed over to Ho Chi Minh City for management," Mr. Thanh informed.

Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal is nearly 10km long, starting at the culvert at the intersection of Hoang Sa - Truong Sa - Ut Tich Street (Ward 4, Tan Binh District) and ending at the Saigon River (District 1).

After completing renovation more than 10 years ago, this is the most beautiful canal in Ho Chi Minh City, passing through districts 1, 3, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Tan Binh.
