88-year-old teacher donates 1 billion VND to poor students who overcome difficulties

TPO - Teacher Bui Long Bien, his wife, children and former students went to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to donate 1 billion VND to poor students who have overcome difficulties in their studies.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thanh Huyen, Head of Student Affairs Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, informed on March 22 that Teacher Bui Long Bien, senior lecturer of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1960 - 2002). In 2002, the teacher retired under the State's policy.

In 2025, Teacher Bui Long Bien decided to donate 1 billion VND to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to support students with especially difficult circumstances, who have the will and determination to succeed in life. The above scholarship amount is divided into 100 scholarships, each worth 10 million VND. Each semester, 10 scholarships will be considered for 10 students with especially difficult economic circumstances.

Students who receive the Bui Long Bien Teacher Scholarship will continue to receive the Scholarship in the following semesters until the scholarship program ends (scholarship runs out) if they ensure that they satisfy the conditions for maintaining the scholarship.

With the money donated by teacher Bui Long Bien, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said it will establish a scholarship fund in his name before April 30.
