Sun Group reports progress of projects serving APEC 2027 Conference

Speaking at the meeting, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai highly appreciated the initiative of Sun Group in calculating, arranging human resources and means to implement approved investment projects in Phu Quoc, ensuring the earliest and most favorable progress.

He acknowledged and highly appreciated that at recent construction progress inspections, the group had mobilized hundreds of workers and more than 300 construction equipment, and systematically managed the project with a specific completion timeline, especially at the airport project.

An Giang province's leaders welcomed the proactive work of businesses with the province to resolve difficulties, and at the same time required key projects such as airports and seaports - the "gateways" to welcome and see off tourists - to leave a good impression and not be left in a state of disrepair and slovenliness.

Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai noted that the policy of the Party and the State is to create conditions for businesses and society to do whatever they can. The State only directly manages and implements tasks that cannot be assigned to businesses and society.

The Provincial Party Secretary directed the Department of Construction to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone to study and advise on arranging a civilized and polite system of passenger ports, fishing ports and storm shelters to serve tourists; ensure safe anchorages for fishing boats during storms, and at the same time recalculate and plan for offshore farming areas...

Proposal to speed up legal completion

Mr. Bui Thanh Trung - Chairman of Sun Group Southern Region said that APEC 2027 Summit Week is an important international event, receiving the attention of Party and State leaders. As a strategic investor of An Giang province, Sun Group has been implementing large-scale investment plans according to approved investment policies.

Regarding the progress of the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project, Terminal T2 will complete 100% of the rough structure, 80% of the steel structure in 2025. The VIP Terminal will complete 100% of the rough structure, steel structure, 10% of MEP and finishing; 30% of the runway value. The completion progress of the T2 passenger terminal project (phase 1) is December 30, 2026; the VIP terminal is September 30, 2026; the runway is June 30, 2026.

For the APEC 2027 Conference Center project, the construction progress of the foundation of area S4 is 100% complete. The base block has 100% complete rough structure, 10% MΕΡ. The foundation and rough structure of the base block are completed on December 31, 2025. The rough structure of the tower block is completed on June 30, 2026. The exterior of the tower block is completed on November 30, 2026. The interior is completed on June 30, 2027.

Area S3 completed 100 foundations and rough, steel structure roofing, 5% edge. Steel structure roofing completed on December 31, 2025, finished on January 31, 2027. As for area S2, reinforced concrete, steel structure and roofing completed on December 31, 2025; structure, roofing on December 31, 2025; exterior finishing, interior finishing on June 30, 2026.

Sun Group Corporation requested the Standing Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee to direct the acceleration of legal completion so that investors and contractors are eligible to disburse investment capital.

With the scale of large projects and the volume of works that need to be urgently constructed to serve APEC 2027, the demand for minerals for construction in Phu Quoc Special Zone is very large and needs to be exploited soon for implementation. Sun Group Corporation proposed to review mineral mines and carry out legal procedures to ensure the supply of minerals for the construction of APEC projects.

Sun Group Corporation proposed to be given priority in selecting the right to exploit mineral mines to implement APEC projects. At the same time, the competent authority approved the partial adjustment of the Phu Quoc master plan in August 2025 to ensure the progress of APEC projects and the sustainable development of Phu Quoc.
