Import and export through border gates flourish

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh, from January 1 to September 30, 2024, import-export turnover with China reached 3.52 billion USD, an increase of 23% over the same period in 2023. Of which, export turnover reached 1.52 billion USD; import turnover reached 1.63 billion USD; border resident exchange activities reached 0.37 billion USD.

In which, the main export items are: Wood chips, coal, agricultural, forestry, aquatic products...; the main import items are: Machinery, equipment, garment fabrics, groceries, processing materials.

According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Electronic Information Portal, in Quang Ninh, promoting exports to the potential Chinese market is being actively promoted with many effective activities. Notably, Quang Ninh province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have strengthened their work in many fields, including trade activities, promoting regional connectivity and goods exchange between the two sides. Accordingly, the two provinces and regions continue to effectively operate the Mong Cai (Vietnam) - Dongxing (China) international border gate, the pair of bilateral border gates Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) - Dong Trung (China) including the Bac Phong Sinh (Vietnam) - Ly Hoa (China) customs clearance; soon restore customs clearance activities for goods at the Ka Long border gate (Mong Cai, Vietnam) - Dongxing Border Wharf (China); actively coordinate to deploy the pilot construction of a cross-border economic cooperation zone.

At the same time, the two sides will coordinate to implement measures to facilitate customs clearance, promote investment, trade, and import-export cooperation between the two sides, and prioritize fast and pre-clearance for Vietnam's export goods to China, including agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products.

Along with the effective implementation of cooperation activities, Quang Ninh province continues to promote trade to the Chinese market through the Vietnam - China international trade fair; China - ASEAN fair (CAEXPO)... Many 3-5 star OCOP products of the province have been introduced and displayed at the fairs such as: Ba Che golden flower tea; Quy Hoa golden flower tea (Hai Ha); oyster floss, shrimp floss... (BAVABI); Yen Tu plum wine; Binh Lieu dong vermicelli...

According to the Mong Cai Border Gate Management Board, to facilitate import and export activities through the border gate, Mong Cai city has proactively deployed and directed border gate sectors to closely coordinate in supporting, accompanying, and attracting businesses; strengthening administrative reforms, ensuring that customs clearance of goods and immigration activities take place smoothly, safely, and smoothly.

In addition, the City People's Committee regularly holds talks with the People's Government of Dongxing City (China) to agree on solutions to remove difficulties, attract new businesses, promote border trade and economic activities, and tourism exchanges.

Local authorities have maintained good control over smuggling, trade fraud, illegal entry and exit across the border, strictly managed the area and border residents, prevented the formation of hot spots in the area, and prevented local congestion...

At the same time, Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch also implemented many solutions to facilitate businesses in customs clearance through the border gate.

In the last months of 2024, Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch determined to continue to focus on promoting contact activities, grasping the business situation to promptly guide and remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing policies, customs procedures, classifying and applying HS codes right from the time of receiving, checking documents and customs procedures at the border gate and opening.

Actively encourage businesses to conduct assessments on the Service Quality Assessment System of civil servants during the process of handling customs procedures; increase the rate and quality of assessment forms equally across all criteria to further improve the quality of service for people and businesses.

In addition, the Department strengthens inspection and supervision to promptly detect and prevent acts of fraud, counterfeiting of origin, illegal labeling of goods, illegal transportation and infringement of intellectual property rights. Proactively organizes regular meetings and exchanges with Dongxing Customs (China) to inform about the situation and import-export activities, exchange experiences in managing means of transport in and out of the country, import-export goods to improve the effectiveness of coordination between the parties, aiming to create maximum convenience for trade activities and prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border.

On the side of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh, we will increase exchanges and work with Chinese agents and enterprises who want to learn about the typical products and tourism services of Quang Ninh to guide enterprises in working and signing cooperation agreements.
