Although it was the first time the tournament was held, it received the attention of many parents and units that created all conditions and encouraged students to participate. There were 187 athletes, including 102 males and 85 females from 11 clubs, businesses, wards, communes and schools in the city, competing in 4 age groups. Specifically, the 8-9 year old group swam freestyle, 25m breaststroke for men and women. The 10-11 year old group, 12-13 year old group, 14-15 year old group swam freestyle, 50m breaststroke for men and women and 200m mixed relay for men and women.

Not only was it exciting on the blue swimming lane, but during the 2 days of competition (July 29-30), despite the impact of the storm and heavy rain, many parents and members still enthusiastically cheered, creating an exciting atmosphere at the swimming pool of the Provincial Sports Training, Coaching and Competition Center.

Present early in the stands, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Phu Trinh Ward) shared: “In the summer, there have been many tragic drowning incidents in which the victims were mainly children. Phan Thiet is a coastal city, so teaching children to swim is very necessary. In addition to being instructed by teachers on safe swimming and escape skills, I am very happy that my grandson’s physical strength and height have both increased significantly. Therefore, I think this swimming competition is very meaningful for the children to practice, improve their techniques and become more bold and confident.”

At the waiting area for the competition, Mr. Le Thanh Hung (Phong Nam commune) carefully reminded his son to concentrate and stay calm. He said: “Outside of class time, my wife and I always encourage him to play healthy sports such as swimming and martial arts to improve his health and make his studies more effective. He has been practicing swimming for over a year and is very excited to participate in the competition. Duc Tri registered for the 50m breaststroke, age group 10-11”.

The fierceness on the green track gave the audience emotions ranging from excitement to joy and even regret, when the athletes' achievements were close to each other. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh (Phu Thuy ward) said: Participating in the swimming competition was an interesting experience for her child. Although the achievement was not high, the swimming technique was not really good, but the child was confident and capable of mastering the water. She hopes that there will be many more useful and interesting competitions like this so that the children can test themselves.

According to the Organizing Committee, thanks to careful preparation for the swimming tournament, the athletes all have quite high professional quality. The teams are even in the competition content, creating fierce competition. The first "Green Race" swimming tournament also shows the initiative and cooperation of the authorities at all levels, society, and schools in the city in propaganda work, building pools for teaching and learning swimming. Thereby finding young talents to continue to nurture and train.
