Nearly 60 years ago, war journalist and photographer Luong Nghia Dung came to Ngu Thuy to make a photo reportage "Girls protecting the sea and the village" - one of the works that won the Ho Chi Minh Prize for literature and art.

Later, in the photo book "Vietnam in the flash of bullets and fire" by soldier-journalist and martyr Luong Nghia Dung, published by Thong Tan Publishing House, many names of places and people in the "land of fire" Quang Binh were mentioned.

Including a photo reportage about the life and fighting of the heroic Ngu Thuy Women's Artillery Company. These are real, vivid photos, taken by journalist Luong Nghia Dung in 1967 right on the 85mm artillery position of the Ngu Thuy Women's Artillery Company.

These precious documentary photos have gone down in history in the struggle for independence and national reunification, marking the brilliant feat of the heroic Ngu Thuy Women's Artillery Company.

Nearly 60 years later, Ms. Luong Thi Nhieu (86 years old), wife of martyr Luong Nghia Dung, and her children and grandchildren traveled a long distance from Hanoi to the coastal commune of Ngu Thuy to visit the female artillery company members of Ngu Thuy, characters in the works of her husband, father and grandfather.

They hugged each other, moved, tears rolling down their cheeks. People of this age, meeting for the first time, felt like they had known each other for a long time, telling each other stories from nearly 60 years ago, asking about each other's current lives and encouraging each other to take care of their health to continue accompanying their children and grandchildren on the journey ahead.

Receiving the precious photos recording the image of her Artillery Company in the past, especially when seeing herself in the photos, Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Sam was moved to tears and said that looking at these photos, she and her teammates felt like they were seeing again their heroic youth.

"Journalist Luong Nghia Dung took these photos when our Company was fighting on the battlefield. At that time, I was on duty observing the American warship so that my teammates could adjust the 85mm cannon barrel to hit the enemy ship. Thank you, journalist and photographer Luong Nghia Dung, for not minding the hardships and sacrifices to record these precious documentary photos of the Ngu Thuy Women's Artillery Company and preserving them until today. Above all, the family of the martyred journalist still does not forget us female gunners, coming to visit and giving them precious photos and gifts with utmost respect" - Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Sam shared.
