Project 8 is one of 10 component projects under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period, assigned to the Vietnam Women's Union to preside over implementation with the goal of raising awareness, changing gender stereotypes, caring for material and spiritual life, protecting and caring for women and children, and achieving gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. After 5 years, Project 8 has basically completed 4 key contents; 8/9 core targets of the project have been achieved and exceeded the phase plan, of which 4/9 targets exceeded the plan, including: Community communication team (reaching 115.5%), Trusted address (reaching 231%), "Leader of change" club (reaching 113%), Capacity building for female ethnic minority cadres (reaching 208%). Through assessment, the models and activities of Project 8 have had a positive impact, creating a change in awareness, changing the "thinking and working style" of people in particularly difficult communes and villages, contributing to localities in effectively solving a number of urgent social issues for women and children and promoting gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The conference announced the decision to commend the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union for 30 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Project 8 Phase I. The Department of Education and Training of Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province is one of 20 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing Project 8 Phase I to be commended and rewarded.
