On the afternoon of October 28, news from the People's Committee of Chau Phu District (An Giang) said that Binh Chanh Kindergarten had severely criticized and reviewed the responsibility of the teacher who beat children in the classroom in front of the whole school.

An Giang Provincial People's Committee directed to verify and handle

Previously, on October 15, Thanh Nien Newspaper reported that Mr. THP (parent of NK, class 3, Binh Chanh Kindergarten), sent a complaint to Ms. PTNH, the teacher of this class, for beating children in class.

From there, the model school established a verification team, invited Ms. H. to discuss and review the videos of the 3rd grade class. Accordingly, during the teaching process on September 23, Ms. H. beat NK as stated in the complaint. In addition, on September 23, 24 and 26, Ms. H. also hit the hands of 2-3 other children in the class with bamboo clappers. The beaten children had no injuries.

After Thanh Nien Newspaper reported, on October 17, An Giang Provincial People's Committee sent an official dispatch requesting the Department of Education and Training and Chau Phu District People's Committee to verify and handle the case. Afterwards, the Department of Education and Training and leaders of Chau Phu District People's Committee had a meeting with the district's professional departments, the locality, Binh Chanh Kindergarten, Ms. H. and the parents who filed the complaint to handle the case.

Beating students due to psychological inhibition

At the meeting of the Chau Phu District People's Committee, Ms. H. admitted that her behavior of hitting children during class was not up to the standards of a teacher, violated the ethics of a teacher, and affected herself and the reputation of the school. However, she hit the children for the first time, she was an excellent teacher at the provincial level in the 2023-2024 school year and partly due to her own psychological inhibition. After the incident, she met with the parents to apologize for her behavior.

Mr. P. said that he filed a complaint only to remind Ms. H. not to hit children during teaching.

Based on consideration of related factors, Binh Chanh Kindergarten has taken a strict disciplinary action, criticizing and reviewing Ms. H's responsibilities in front of all staff and employees in the school.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Chau Phu District agrees with the above handling method of the school. At the same time, the Department of Education and Training is required to regularly inspect, monitor, and remind the principals of the management work of schools, especially the content of student abuse, and requires the Principal of Binh Chanh Kindergarten to consider learning from the experience in handling the case slowly, causing resentment among parents; local leaders assigning party committee members in charge need to pay attention and help the school's party cell in management work.

For Ms. H., she needs to be more aware of her behavior when teaching in class and must absolutely learn from her experience in the future.
