Dak Dier irrigation reservoir project, Cu Jut commune promotes multiple economic, social and environmental objectives.

The water from the Dak Dier irrigation project in Cu Jut commune has helped many arid lands become fertile, bringing a prosperous life to the people, especially ethnic minority households in Cu Jut and Nam Dong communes. Before 2010, many villages in the two communes above were areas that often experienced drought and water shortages. Many agricultural land areas were not effective because the water source was unstable. This made the lives of many farmers more difficult. When the Dak Dier irrigation project was built with a capital of over 241 billion VND, the total capacity of 5.5 million m3 of water made the lives of the people here gradually more stable and prosperous.

Having lived in Cu Jut commune for nearly 30 years, Mr. Sam Van Khoan, village 2, has 5 sao of rice land. He still clearly remembers that when there were no irrigation works, rice production was difficult, especially during the dry season. To have a water source, he often had to stay up all night watching the water flow from the stream to the fields. Without water, the rice would grow poorly, and the yield would not be high, so there were years when there was a shortage of food. However, for the past 10 years, his family's rice production has been "easier to breathe" because the water source is always guaranteed. The productivity and quality of his family's rice have also increased continuously, currently reaching 7-8 tons/ha, and his family always has enough food. Not only is he full, he also stably produces long-term crops such as coffee and pepper, improving his family's living standards.

According to Mr. Ngo Quoc Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cu Jut Commune, the multi-purpose effectiveness of the Dak Dier irrigation project is very large, especially for the commune's "rice granary" with a large area of over 300 hectares. The stable water source from the project also contributes to ensuring the flow of small streams, stabilizing the groundwater level for irrigation wells, and daily life of people in the commune and part of Nam Dong commune.

Similarly, in recent years, irrigation works in Lien Huong, Tuy Phong and Vinh Hao communes have also been exploited in a multi-purpose direction. Typically, the three reservoirs including Phan Dung, Long Song and Da Bac with a total capacity of over 55 million m³ have determined the formation and maintenance of stable rice production areas. Along with that, from arid areas, reservoir works have contributed to the stable development of advantageous crops such as apples, grapes, vegetables, dragon fruit, and goat, cow and sheep farming.

It can be said that these are typical examples of the effectiveness of the project for agricultural production, air conditioning, creating a stable ecosystem, ensuring domestic water in the locality. Especially in the increasingly severe hot and dry conditions like today, the project plays an increasingly important role in socio-economic development.
