A mysterious lake located about 15m higher than the underground river system has just been discovered in a branch of Thung Cave, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

The survey team of Junglee Boss Company Limited, located in Phong Nha town, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, has just discovered a mysterious lake in a branch of Thung cave, part of the cave system in Hung Thoong.

Observing with the naked eye, this lake is located about a kilometer from the cave entrance and has a surface area of several hundred square meters. Surrounding the lake are stalactites.

A crystal clear lake "hanging" in Thung Cave has just been discovered.

What's special is that the lake is about 15m higher than the main underground river in the cave, so it looks like it's "hanging" on the cave wall.

However, the survey team is currently unable to measure the depth of the lake because they do not have enough diving equipment. The team also has not found the source of water flowing into this mysterious lake.

Because of the lake's unique location, the survey team has temporarily named the lake Suspended Lake.

According to Mr. Le Luu Dung, director of Junglee Boss, the survey team will soon return to Thung Cave with more equipment to decode the mysteries surrounding Lo Lung Lake.

Hung Thoong is one of the most pristine places of Phong Nha - Ke Bang. Hung in Phong Nha language means valley.

The Thoong cave system or Thoong valley is very unique and special with many caves located deep in the strictly protected area of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, surrounded by a system of million-year-old limestone mountains and primeval forests.

In early 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province allowed a trial exploitation of the Thoong cave discovery tour.
