On the afternoon of July 28, Vietnamese athletes continued to compete at the Paris Olympics. Among them were Pham Thi Hue (rowing) and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting).

After finishing fourth in the qualifying round of the women’s heavyweight single sculls, Pham Thi Hue still has a chance to reach the quarter-finals if she wins one of the top two spots in the repechage round. Here, the Vietnamese athlete’s opponents are rowers Gonzalez Jarquin Evidelia (Nicaragua), Cobas Garcia Yariulvis (Cuba), Delgaco Joanie (Philippines) and Komlanvi Akoko (Togo).

With his relentless efforts, the 1990-born rower dominated from the start, coming in second, just behind the Philippine rower Degalco.

Unlike the qualifying round, Pham Thi Hue maintained her lead over her pursuers and did not show signs of fatigue, especially in the last 500m. Pham Thi Hue maintained a stable 30m gap with Cobas Yariulvis (Cuba) to secure second place overall with a time of 8 minutes 00 seconds 97.

With this result, Pham Thi Hue is in the quarter-finals of the women's single sculls rowing event. She will compete at 2:30 p.m. on July 30 to compete for a ticket to the semi-finals.

Also on the afternoon of July 28, Le Thi Mong Tuyen competed in the women's 10m air rifle event. Unlike pistols, rifles are not the strong point of Vietnamese shooting. At the same time, this event brings together many good shooters.

Despite her best efforts, Mong Tuyen's scores in the shooting series only stopped at 102.6 to 103.9, with no breakthrough. The shooter from Ho Chi Minh City started slowly, only really shooting well in the last series with a total score of 104.9.

In the end, Mong Tuyen achieved a total score of 621.1 (average score of 10,352), ranked 40th. The Vietnamese shooter could not participate in the final round.

The athletes with the best results in the women's 10m air rifle qualifying round included Ban Hyo-jin (South Korea) in the lead with 634.5 points, followed by Duestad Hegg of Norway with 633.2 points, and Gogginat Audrey of Switzerland in third place with 632.6 points.

Thus, Vietnam shooting only has Trinh Thu Vinh as the sole representative to participate in the final. However, this is also a valuable experience for young shooter Le Thi Mong Tuyen, with a long training and competition journey in Europe.
