Putin checks combat readiness of Chechen army

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Chechnya on the evening of August 20. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov met the President at Grozny airport. Mr Kadyrov said Mr Putin had a "full agenda" planned for his trip to the Russian republic.

The two leaders visited the Russian Special Forces University, a training school in Gudermes, Chechnya, to observe the training of volunteers preparing to deploy special military operations in Ukraine.

The training took place in galleries where soldiers demonstrated basic weapons training, tactical medical skills, battlefield movement and assaulting a stronghold.

According to the Kremlin, Mr. Putin told the troops there: "As long as we have men like you, we are definitely, definitely invincible."

"A school shooting is one thing, but putting your life and health in danger is another. But you have a deep desire in your heart to protect your country and have the courage to make such a decision."

The Russian Special Forces University consists of 95 buildings equipped with the latest special information technology solutions. The school provides training in areas such as weapons, tactics, air and mountain warfare, as well as training of bodyguards and military journalists.

More than 19,000 volunteers have been trained at the university since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Students have access to accelerated combat training courses, including tactics, physical and medical training, psychological stabilization...

Before going to Chechnya, President Putin visited the town of Beslan in the North Ossetia region for the first time in at least 16 years.
