Việt NamViệt Nam04/09/2023

Mr. Vu A Sung, Pho village, Trung Thu commune, Tua Chua district, feeds goats.

Previously, the family economy of Mr. Ca Van Vinh, a farmer member of Dun Nua village, Muong Dun commune, only relied on more than 1,000m2 of rice. His family was large, so life was difficult. In 2010, his family borrowed 30 million VND from the Social Policy Bank entrusted through the Commune Farmers' Association to build barns and buy livestock and poultry breeds to raise. Not only was he supported with capital for raising livestock, Mr. Vinh also participated in training courses on care techniques and disease prevention for livestock. From the knowledge he learned along with many years of experience in raising livestock, his family's livestock grew and developed well. Currently, Mr. Vinh's family is raising more than 20 goats and nearly 100 poultry of all kinds. The livestock model brings his family a stable income and helps them escape poverty.

Mr. Lo Van Nhai, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Muong Dun Commune, said: In order to create conditions for members to develop the economy and increase income, the Farmers' Association of the commune has mobilized members to actively change the structure of crops and livestock; created conditions for more than 200 members to borrow to invest in buying buffaloes, cows, and goats for grazing with a total outstanding debt of more than 9 billion VND. Up to now, the lives of farmer members have basically improved. In the coming time, we will continue to propagate and mobilize people to actively change the structure of crops and livestock to increase income.

Together with the staff of the Farmers' Association of Trung Thu commune, we visited the goat breeding model of Mr. Vu A Sung's family (Pho village). This is one of the typical examples of good farmers in production and business in the locality. It is known that Mr. Sung's family previously focused on growing hybrid corn. However, after many years of investment, spending a lot of labor but not achieving the desired economic efficiency, he thought about changing the structure of crops and livestock to help his family reduce poverty. After consulting, researching and learning from many different models, Mr. Sung decided to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank through the trust of the Farmers' Association to invest in breeding goats.

Mr. Sung shared: From the loan, I was able to buy 6 goats. During the process of raising goats, I not only learned knowledge from books and newspapers, but also attended training courses on goat care and disease prevention. With the knowledge I learned, I was able to recognize the signs of disease in the goat herd and promptly prevent and treat the disease. Currently, the herd has increased to 40 goats. In addition to focusing on raising goats, my family also converted part of the rice growing area to strawberry growing. After 3 years, the family's strawberry garden has provided a stable income.

Identifying the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" as the key movement, the Farmers' Association of Tua Chua district has regularly propagated, encouraged and motivated members and farmers to innovate their thinking, boldly change their way of thinking and doing; exploit existing potentials and strengths to invest in production and business, rise up to escape poverty and get rich legitimately.

Mr. Tran Viet Mui, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tua Chua district, said: In recent years, the Farmers' Association of the district has organized and implemented programs and plans for agricultural and rural development. In particular, it focuses on launching the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably". In addition, we also entrusted the district's Social Policy Bank to create conditions for nearly 3,700 members to borrow capital, with a total outstanding loan of more than 100 billion VND. Many members and farmers have used the capital for the right purpose, effectively and risen out of poverty.

With the help and support of the District Farmers' Association, members have actively competed in labor production; been flexible and creative in transforming crop and livestock structures; and actively participated in various types of production, business, and services. In 2022, the whole district had 238 households achieving the title of excellent production and business at all levels. In 2023, members and farmers of Tua Chua district will continue to replicate and develop effective economic models, striving to achieve the target of 248 households being excellent production and business at all levels.
