The moment contestant Vo Quang Phu Duc, a student at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, pressed the button to gain the right to answer the final question in contestant Tran Trung Kien's finishing round, was also the moment the Ngo Mon Square - Hue Imperial City bridge "exploded" because of the excitement of the audience.

Although there was no correct answer, with a score of 220, Phu Duc won the final round of Road to Olympia 2024, bringing the third championship title to Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted.

Previously, in the third quarter of the 24th edition of the Road to Olympia program, Vo Quang Phu Duc, a 11th grader majoring in Mathematics at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, won the laurel wreath and entered the final round. This is the second consecutive time Hue has had a televised final round of this competition.

This year, the education sector of Thua Thien Hue province decided to choose Ngo Mon Square - Hue Imperial City - to host the live broadcast of the final round of the Road to Olympia.

Hue chose Ngo Mon Square as the bridge point to promote the image, people, and land with a rich tradition of learning, which was once home to many national talents, while also serving the development of tourism and the local economy.

On the morning of October 13, more than 8,000 students from high schools and middle schools in Thua Thien Hue province came to cheer for Vo Quang Phu Duc (Photo: Dinh Hoang).

Among the 8,000 students who came to cheer, about 300 wore traditional ao dai and performed cultural performances, creating a joyful atmosphere for the venue.

All students and teachers at Ngo Mon bridge point wear Hue conical hats, an indispensable cultural symbol of the ancient capital of Hue.

In particular, students from Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted brought shirts with 100 signatures from teachers and peers to cheer and motivate Phu Duc to win the highest position.

Teachers, friends and audiences in Hue anxiously followed each performance of Vo Quang Phu Duc, then burst into joy when he was the first to reach the finish line.

Mr. Ton That Nam Anh (from Huong Van ward, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province) and his wife and children came to cheer for Phu Duc.

"I am very proud that Hue has talented children like Phu Duc," Nam Anh shared.

Many tourists coming to Hue for tourism also took the opportunity to watch the final round of Road to Olympia 2024.

With 7 contestants who have reached the final round of the Road to Olympia program since the competition was organized until now, and 3 champions, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted deserves to be the pride of the education sector of Thua Thien Hue province in particular and the whole country in general.

Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted is located on the banks of the Perfume River, at the foot of Ngu Binh Mountain, with a rich history.

The final match of Road to Olympia 2024 is a competition between 4 male students: Tran Trung Kien (Le Hong Phong High School, Phu Yen province), Nguyen Quoc Nhat Minh (Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai province), Vo Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien Hue province), Nguyen Nguyen Phu (High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education).

All four boys were born in 2007.
