TPO - According to the project, Thanh Hoi commune will be merged into another commune-level administrative unit of Tan Uyen city (Binh Duong). However, due to its own characteristics and the people's disagreement, it should be retained.

On May 4, Mr. Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen City People's Committee (Binh Duong) said that according to the Central Government's policy, by 2025, there will be no merger of administrative units in Binh Duong province.

Tan Uyen City has 10 wards and 2 communes (Bach Dang and Thanh Hoi). The city's policy is not to develop industry but only to develop eco-tourism for the above 2 communes.

Previously, according to the project of Binh Duong province, Thanh Hoi commune would merge with another commune-level administrative unit of Tan Uyen city. However, this project did not receive consensus from Thanh Hoi residents for many reasons.

According to the people of Thanh Hoi commune, the entire natural area of the commune is an island, completely isolated from the remaining administrative units of Tan Uyen city.

Besides, Thanh Hoi commune has its own characteristics in terms of long-standing historical traditions, culture, religion, customs and practices that are distinct from the remaining commune-level administrative units of the city.

From the wishes of local people, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee sent a document to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting not to merge Thanh Hoi commune.

On April 9, 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent a report to the Government so that the Government could submit it to the National Assembly Standing Committee to request 7 provinces not to merge at the district and commune levels, including Binh Duong.
