The child's wound was stitched and vaccinated, but a week later the bite did not heal, so the family transferred the patient to Phu Tho General Hospital for treatment.

On October 25, doctors from the Department of Surgery requested that the High-Quality Medical Examination and Treatment Center determine that the child had a staphylococcus aureus infection after being bitten by a dog, with a risk of life-threatening blood infection.

Previously, a 6-year-old boy was also attacked by a neighbor's dog while playing. After being bitten by the dog, the family took the boy to get stitches. After a month, the wound had not healed and became infected, so he was hospitalized for emergency care.

Both babies had their wounds cleaned, bandages changed daily, and antibiotics used. Currently, the wounds have dried and the children are in stable condition.

Dog bite wounds are often quite deep and have a high risk of infection. Through open wounds, patients can contract rabies or be infected with bacteria such as tetanus, staphylococcus, streptococcus, etc.

When bitten by a dog, you need to clean, irrigate, cut and drain the open wound, use anti-inflammatory drugs, avoid infection, and get vaccinated against rabies and tetanus.

Patients need to be closely monitored. If they experience serious conditions such as pus from a dog bite, they must be taken to a medical facility promptly.
