The 2024 Winter Music Festival of TH School students was extremely impressive with the theme "The Joy of Music."
Amidst the cold wind of the first winter in Hanoi, in the peaceful space shaded by green trees of TH School, Mr. Tran Manh Ha smiled brightly, his eyes never leaving the stage, where his son was confidently and expressively performing his act with his friends in the Winter Concert 2024 program.
“I am really surprised, happy and proud to see my child growing up through the meaningful activities of the school. This is also the reason why I chose TH School to entrust my child to,” Mr. Ha said emotionally.
The Winter Concert 2024 was held by TH School on the afternoon of December 12 and 13 with fun and lovely musical performances by young artists from Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary School of TH School. With the theme "The Joy of Music", the program truly warmed the space and the hearts and souls of the attendees.
Happy Sounds
Sharing about the concert, Mr. Tom Pado, Principal of TH School, said that Winter Concert 2024 is the most anticipated annual music program of the school year. The theme of Winter Concert 2024 is "Sounds of Happiness" emphasizing the role of learning and music in parallel [MOU1] that will bring joy and memorable memories. Music is the source of happiness, a language that transcends all boundaries, connects souls and evokes the purest emotions in each person. Therefore, all the performances that students perform fully demonstrate the spiritual value that music brings to both the audience and the performers.
The concert opened impressively with a vibrant drum performance by TH School students, warming up the entire auditorium. The young artists with their bright red drums stood out even more and shone brightly in the impressively designed stage space like a sparkling starry night sky.
And in that warm, bright space, TH School students took the audience from one surprise to another when first graders were able to play the T'rung, sing, and dance confidently on stage; second graders were able to perform a variety of musical instruments such as the zither, drums, and dance performances... The preschool students, who were not yet three years old, were super adorable in bright red Santa Claus costumes, innocently stepping onto the stage, singing, shaking their hips, and smiling brightly...
The performances recreated the hit songs that once dominated the world music charts, from We are the champions, Rolling in the deep, I'm yours,... to Christmas medleys like All I want for Christmas is you, Snow man.... Each performance is a separate story, told through sound, dance and innocence in every look and smile. The lively songs bring a festive atmosphere, the deep music evokes warm moments, the vibrant melodies seem to make every audience's heart beat faster - an inevitable effect of "The Joy of Music."
Along with the international songs, there were performances honoring Vietnamese melodies imbued with traditional cultural elements. Vietnamese and international students together demonstrated their knowledge and ability to play folk instruments such as drums and T'rung lutes on the background of songs familiar to many generations of Vietnamese people such as Chiec khan pieu, Di hoc, Trong com, etc.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Trang, music teacher and performance coordinator at TH School, in an international learning environment with students from nearly 30 countries, TH School students are exposed to the musical characteristics of many countries around the world, familiarize themselves with many musical instruments, understand many music genres, and world-famous works. They are also given the opportunity to approach the quintessence of Vietnamese culture, instilling in them a spirit of respect and pride in traditional values, and a desire to spread the beauty of the country to international friends.
Comprehensive educational environment
Ms. Thuy Trang said that at TH School, students not only learn cultural subjects according to international standards, but also pay special attention to art subjects and have a diverse curriculum. With music, students learn from piano to traditional instruments, learn to sing, dance, and perform musicals. With art, students experience many materials, from watercolor to acrylic to professional materials such as using sunlight printing chemicals used by botanists or photographers; making 3D reliefs with grade 1 clay from Bat Trang pottery village... With each subject, the school always combines many educational goals to both develop comprehensively and create opportunities for students to maximize their individual potential.
“Today’s concert is a report on the students’ music teaching results, but we want it to not just be a report but a real, fun, warm performance so that parents can also have the opportunity to see how their children learn and grow and students can also feel excited,” said Ms. Trang.
According to Ms. Trang, the program was prepared for about three months. “At first, many children did not like to sing, and teachers had a hard time encouraging them to participate. We cannot force them, but must be role models. Teachers themselves must be happy, proactive in singing, and enthusiastic, and that will spread to the students. And after only three weeks, the children liked to sing, and many of them actively registered for solo performances. Participating in a group program, the children also learned how to coordinate with each other. At the age of preschool and primary school students, something as simple as knowing how to sit still and listen when others perform is already a sign of maturity,” Ms. Trang said.
Excitedly sharing after the choir performance at the end of the program, Nguyen Khai Minh (Grade 5) felt very happy and joyful when standing on stage to show his parents what he had learned from music at school and how he had matured.
“We have been practicing hard for the past few months, 1 to 2 sessions a week, because the music teacher said that we have to practice hard to sing correctly, otherwise we won’t improve, and when we sing together we will understand each other better. When I first went on stage I was a bit scared, but when I started singing, I became more confident,” Khai Minh said happily.
Proudly sharing after the excellent performance of his students, Mr. Tom Pado [MOU2] said that each performance is a demonstration of the talent of TH School students in the field of art. The students have devoted a lot of effort to the 2024 Winter Concert and practiced very hard with the guidance of teachers for many days. This is an opportunity for them to improve their performance skills and bring outstanding performances to the audience. Therefore, the Winter Concert is a convergence of the dedication, diligence, passion for art of TH School students and the correct teaching methods of teachers.
As an annual event held at TH School, the Music Festival gives TH School students the opportunity to express themselves in the field of art, to recognize and honor their efforts after months of practice and meticulous preparation. In addition, the program also demonstrates the core value of "Comprehensive development" that Labor Hero Thai Huong has chosen since the early days of laying the foundation for the development of the TH School system: Building a perfect educational foundation, focusing on physical, intellectual and spiritual development.
True happiness at TH School comes not only from academic success but also from maturity in personality, confidence, and love and sharing with those around us.
And that is also one of the unique highlights of the happy school TH School, making TH School a trusted choice for parents. Having sent his child to a number of non-public schools in Hanoi before entering TH School, but after only one year at the new school, Mr. Tran Manh Ha said he will continue to send his child to TH School not only through primary school but also through middle school and high school.
“While the previous schools my child attended focused mainly on cultural subjects, here, he really receives a comprehensive education with many activities. I always hope that my child will have a memorable childhood, and at TH School, he will truly have a memorable childhood with friends, teachers who always care, look after, love, and have diverse and meaningful activities that when he remembers later, he will definitely feel happy,” said Mr. Ha./.
