The boxer known as the "undefeated" of Vietnamese Muay Thai had an impressive start at the 2025 World Games when he defeated Yang Yu Xi (China) in the men's 57kg weight class to enter the semi-finals.

Here, Duy Nhat met his opponent Shelesko Dmytro (Ukraine). In all 3 rounds, the two fighters used important moves to gain points, but the judges scored the victory 29-28 for the Ukrainian fighter.

This result also caused Duy Nhat to lose the chance to defend the championship he won in 2022.

Afterward, Duy Duy entered the bronze medal match with a French opponent who was considered stronger.

At the 2025 World Games, Vietnamese sports will compete in 7 new sports with 25 athletes, including 10 athletes in beach handball, Wushu (6), Aerobics (3), Billiards (2), Petanque (2), Kickboxing (1) and Muay (1).

At the 2022 World Games in the US, Vietnamese sports only had 5 athletes participating in 3 sports: Muay, Billiards and Wushu, in which Muay fighter Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat and Wushu athlete Duong Thuy Vi won 2 gold medals, bringing Vietnam to 31st place overall.

The inability to recover well and the pain on his body meant that the Vietnamese boxer could only stand for 3 rounds and could not create a surprise against his younger and more energetic opponent.

Coach Giap Trung Thang, who has been following Duy Nhat throughout his career, said: "Duy Nhat is very resilient. Even though he is in a lot of pain, he still plays with an attitude of never giving up.

Even in the third place match, it is easy to give up after losing two sets, but Duy Nhat showed that as long as he was on the ring, he still brought all his strength to contribute his best ability at that time.

That surprised the opponent and after the match he actively expressed his gratitude for the strong fighting spirit of our boxers.

Although he could not win a medal, Duy Nhat showed great fighting spirit and effort.

Although he is 36 years old (the oldest in the men's 57kg weight class), Duy Nhat still longs to contribute to bringing glory to the country's sports.
