The Vietnam Athletics Federation said: "The athletics team participating in the 32nd SEA Games consists of 75 members (21 team leaders, coaches and 54 athletes), competing in 38/47 events. With the spirit of honest, noble competition and for the country's flag, the team competed excellently, winning a total of 40 medals including 12 gold medals, 20 silver medals, 8 bronze medals, contributing to the overall success of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.

In order to promptly encourage and reward the athletics team in general and outstanding athletes in particular, the Vietnam Athletics Federation will organize a ceremony to celebrate and reward the athletics team at the 32nd SEA Games at 10:00 on May 17 at the Hyatt Legecy West Hanoi Hotel (Hanoi).

At the 32nd SEA Games, many Vietnamese track and field athletes made a special mark and spread the value of resilience, steely will, overcoming the extreme challenges of objective circumstances. Single mother Nguyen Thi Huyen still won 3 gold medals, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha changed the color of her medal to the most beautiful color after 2 SEA Games, Nguyen Linh Na successfully defended her gold medal in the heptathlon.

In some relay events, the Vietnamese athletics team is still the strongest in the region, such as the 4x400m mixed relay for men and women; the 4x400m relay for women... The small girl Nguyen Thi Oanh has the opportunity to win the title of the best athlete of the Vietnamese sports delegation when she won 4 gold medals, in which the most impressive were the gold medals in the 1,500m and 3,000m obstacle course events when the 2 events were less than 20 minutes apart.

At the celebration ceremony, Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO Group) will present athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh with a French car, PEUGEOT 2008 GT - Line version - manufactured in 2022, worth more than 900 million VND (including estimated tax costs such as VAT, vehicle registration fees, other costs for the car to roll.) and personal income tax when the athlete receives the gift is more than 82 million VND. Nguyen Thi Oanh will receive a symbolic key, then she will be taken to THACO AUTO showroom in Bac Giang to choose the car color and THACO AUTO staff will be responsible for completing all procedures for Oanh to receive the car without any other costs.

At the celebration ceremony on May 17, THACO AUTO representative also presented 200 million VND to the Vietnam athletics team. Viet Content and Trading Joint Stock Company (Vietcontent) presented 200 million VND to the Vietnam athletics team. The Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund presented 200 million VND to the Vietnam athletics team. Lining presented 200 million VND. Thai An Hydropower Company presented 50 million VND. Hoang Thanh Infrastructure Investment and Development Company presented 50 million VND. The Vietnam Athletics Federation presented 100 million VND to the team before the 32nd SEA Games and will continue to present a bonus of 500 million VND.

Regarding the bonus according to the State's regulations, the Vietnam athletics team (only counting athletes) received 1 billion 545 million VND. The coaches of the Vietnam athletics team also received the bonus according to the State's regulations. In total, the athletics team received a bonus from the State of 2 billion 860 million VND. Together with the bonus, the amount that the Vietnam athletics team received was 4 billion 360 million VND.
