The 2024 National Book Awards ceremony took place on the evening of November 29 at the Hanoi Opera House. Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung attended.
Regarding the award for Nguyen Nhat Anh, this is a new award category of the National Book Award, voted by the press and readers, not chosen by the award council.
Nguyen Nhat Anh's work was awarded the prize along with three other best-selling books: The Teacher by author Nguyen Chi Vinh, The Story of the Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly by Luis Sepúlveda, translated by Phuong Huyen; How Much is Youth Worth by Rosie Nguyen.

This is the second time that researcher and historian Nguyen Dinh Tu has received the A prize of the National Book Award. The first time was in 2018. Similar to the familiar image of historians in the media, he wore a red ao dai and a turban to receive the award.
