Nguyen Filip has a chance to win the cup with CAHN Club. |
CAHN excellently won the right to enter the final of the Southeast Asian Cup after defeating PSM Makassar (Indonesia) with a score of 2-0 in the second leg of the semi-final on the evening of April 30. After two matches, coach Mano Polking and his team won with a total score of 2-1.
Thanks to that, goalkeeper Nguyen Filip set a memorable milestone in his career. He became the first overseas Vietnamese player to participate in two regional finals in less than 5 months.
In early January 2025, Nguyen Filip was included for the first time in the list of the Vietnamese team participating in the ASEAN Cup 2024. In this tournament, he played a supporting role for goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu of Hai Phong.
Although he was not the starting goalkeeper in the final match against Thailand, the goalkeeper born in 1992 still had an impressive debut in the group stage. He helped the “Golden Star Warriors” win 1-0 against Indonesia and draw 1-1 with the Philippines in the group stage.
At the Southeast Asian Cup, the goalkeeper of mixed Vietnamese-Czech descent was a reliable stopper in CAHN's goal. He played in 6/7 matches of the team, making an important contribution to the journey to the final.
Notably, Filip kept two clean sheets, a 5-0 win over Lion City Sailors in the group stage and a 2-0 win over PSM Makassar in the second leg of the semi-finals. With this achievement, he officially made history as the first overseas Vietnamese player to participate in the finals at both the national team and club levels in less than 5 months.
