Ranked as an average student, teacher VTKQ (Dak Glong District, Dak Nong) was beaten by parents at home in May. In October 2023, the Vice Principal of Ham Tan High School (Binh Thuan) was beaten by parents and some strangers who broke into her house and had to go to the emergency room.
The attack on the teacher has angered many people, especially teachers like us. The physical pain will pass, but the mental shock to the teacher will take a long time to subside. The parents have admitted that they were too angry and treated the person their child called teacher roughly. The pain of the wounds will gradually subside, but there are scars that will stay with the teacher for life.
From another perspective, there are many things posted on social networks about teachers that are not necessarily true, but with the rapid spread of social networks, the negative effects have spread everywhere. During that time, teachers and their relatives and colleagues have had to endure a lot of criticism and "brickbats" from social networks.
In many cases, teachers cannot protect themselves from the uncivilized behavior of some parents and even students. Teachers are bound by industry regulations. According to the general school regulations, one of the things teachers are not allowed to do is "insult the honor, dignity, and body of students". Teachers will even be subject to administrative sanctions if they violate administrative regulations in the field of education according to Decree No. 79 of 2015 of the Government. Many teachers wonder: Aren't teachers allowed to scold students when they misbehave?
For teachers it is like that, but what about parents and students? Are the sanctions for those who insult the dignity, honor, and body of teachers strong enough?
Many teachers are "bullied" on social networks
In the digital age, people can receive information from many different sources, especially from the internet. With such sources of information, I think everyone should be alert. Everyone needs to know how to verify and evaluate information to make objective comments and judgments.
It is also important to determine the source as well as the facts related to the information. We cannot judge the nature of the phenomenon by looking at it, or judge a person by judging a phenomenon on the internet. This is the culture of behavior on the internet.
From another perspective, parents need to set an example for their children. Can parents who behave rudely or "bully" teachers online or in real life set an example for their children about respecting teachers?
The responsibility of a teacher is to educate his students to become good people. In educational measures, sometimes we need to be flexible, sometimes we need to be firm within the allowable limit. And teachers also need to be protected, we cannot let teachers face the pressure from rude and indecent behavior of some parents and students online as well as in real life.
