People's Artist Tan Minh collaborates with Khac Viet in the new version of the MV "Nguyen Lam"

The song “Nguyễn Làm” is a collaboration between Khac Viet, one of the most beloved contemporary Vietnamese music artists, and People's Artist Tan Minh, a voice that has become an artistic mark for many generations.

“Nguyễn Làm” is one of the special compositions of Khac Viet when he reached the age of 38 - the time when people no longer love like they did in their twenties, but start to love with sobriety, with responsibility, and with the willingness to go all the way.

Without embellishment or subtlety, “Nguyễn Làm” is like a whisper from a man to the woman, the loved one he chooses to be his life partner. The lyrics are voluntary, a commitment from the heart, not to show off but to preserve. Small things, but that is what makes a life full.

This version combined with People's Artist Tan Minh brings a different depth: more calm, more experienced, like a continuation. From a man who has gone through the storms of his life, to a person on the journey to build happiness, the song becomes a bridge, where the two meet with sincerity.

“Mr. Tan Minh is one of the first people who made me fall in love with the singing voices of Vietnamese men” – Khac Viet shared. For him, People’s Artist Tan Minh’s voice is not only beautiful in terms of technique but also beautiful because of its calmness, warmth and fullness of story. “In the past, I often listened to “First Love Letter”, “Phuong Hong”… And I wished that one day I could sing with him. But I never thought that would come true with a work I composed”.

So when People's Artist Tan Minh agreed to record and film the special MV version of "Nguyen Lam", Khac Viet called it a "special luck".

The presence of People's Artist Tan Minh in the MV is not noisy, not theatrical, but like a part of memory, a witness to sincere wishes. People's Artist Tan Minh is famous for rarely appearing in mass entertainment projects. He carefully chooses the songs he participates in and rarely accepts to appear in young artists' MVs. But with "Nguyen Lam", what made him nod was very simple, seeing the song as real, not trying to conquer the audience with fancy things.

Filmed in a cozy little cafe, the MV “Nguyễn Làm” has no special effects. No stage lights, no fuss. Just two men, two generations, sitting together singing a song about love, a love that is not noisy but enough for the listener to touch. The MV is kept minimalist in color, and director Le Ha Nguyen chose to film with a handycam (handheld camera), creating a feeling of closeness as if the viewer were in that room, listening to the whispers of the men who chose love as the thing they “will keep”.

Sharing the message he wants to convey through this collaboration, Khac Viet said: “I want to say that: no matter who you are, no matter how many things you go through, at some point, you will stop in front of someone. And at that time, if your heart is truly at peace, you will be willing to do everything, without needing anyone to see, just needing that person to understand. For Khac Viet, this is not a “hit” song in the market way – but a “legacy” song. And having People’s Artist Tan Minh sing along is the way for that song to touch the hearts of mature audiences.”
