More than 17,000 visitors came to Da Nang on the first day of the Lunar New Year

At 6:45 a.m. on February 10, flight VN628 operated by Vietnam Airlines from Don Muong (Thailand) landed at Da Nang International Airport.

The first visitors were welcomed by a lion dance performance and given special gifts from Da Nang.

In particular, the program "picking the first spring fortune" with gifts of vouchers for sightseeing and entertainment spots including Asia Park, Than Tai Mountain hot spring park, and Ao Dai show in Da Nang is given to visitors during their time in the city.

Three lucky passengers on the first flight received round-trip tickets from Don Muong (Thailand) to Da Nang by Vietnam Airlines and Da Nang tourism products.

Surprised to receive flowers and gifts at the welcoming ceremony for the first guests, Ms. Anna (from Russia) said she was very happy to visit during the Vietnamese New Year and sent New Year wishes to everyone.

According to Ms. Anna, Da Nang is a very beautiful coastal city. She and her friends will visit famous scenic spots in Da Nang such as: Ba Na Hills, Ngu Hanh Son, Linh Ung Pagoda...

Immediately after the ceremony to welcome the first international flight, the Da Nang tourism industry continued to welcome domestic tourists on flight VN157 from Hanoi to Da Nang of Vietnam Airlines and flight JX701 from Taipei (Taiwan, China) to Da Nang of Starlux.

Tourists are given souvenirs of the city such as conical hats, ginger jam, grilled coconut cakes...

Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said that welcoming the first flights and tourists to Da Nang at the beginning of the year of Giap Thin 2024 aims to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for tourists on the first day of the year.

These are positive signals that bring the expectation that Da Nang tourism will have more prosperity and continue to develop strongly in the new year.

On the first day of Tet, Da Nang International Airport welcomed more than 125 domestic and international flights, estimated at more than 17,000 arrivals, of which 53 are expected to be international flights, estimated at about 7,500 arrivals.

It is expected that during the 7-day Tet holiday of Giap Thin 2024 (from February 8-14), there will be a total of 894 international and domestic flights to Da Nang, an estimated increase of 16% over the same period in 2023.

Exciting welcome of cruise ship guests

Also on the morning of February 10, the Department of Tourism coordinated with Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Port Border Guard and Khang Huy Holiday Vietnam Tourism One Member Co., Ltd. to welcome the first international cruise ship of the 2024 Lunar New Year.

The 5-star cruise ship named Dream Cruise carrying more than 1,800 tourists docked at Tien Sa Port to visit Da Nang city. The tourists were given flowers, gifts and watched art performances at the wharf.

Arriving in Da Nang, tourists on the ship have two days to experience tourism at famous tourist attractions of Da Nang such as: Ngu Hanh Son Scenic Relic Area, Linh Ung Son Tra Pagoda, Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum...

Dream Cruise is a 5-star luxury cruise ship with a length of up to 261.31m, a width of 32.25m, and a speed of 22 nautical miles/hour. The interior is comfortable with the most modern equipment, including 16 floors, 1,008 rooms and serving more than 2,016 people.

Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Van Vuong said that Da Nang city is considered a convenient destination for international cruise lines because it is located on an important maritime traffic route in Asia, suitable for connecting cruise lines in the region and the world, where many international cruise lines bring cruise ships to exploit.

“Cruise tourists are high-spending tourists and are an important source of visitors for the city’s tourism industry. Therefore, to attract cruise tourists, Da Nang’s tourism industry focuses on promoting and diversifying products to meet the needs and tastes of cruise tourists, and enhancing the experience for cruise tourists,” Mr. Tan Van Vuong emphasized.

In 2023, Da Nang city will welcome 22 cruise ships with more than 18,000 passengers. According to the schedule of travel agencies exploiting cruise passengers to Da Nang, it is expected that in 2024, there will be more than 45 cruise ships arriving at Tien Sa Port, estimated to reach more than 50,000 passengers.

This is a positive signal signaling a new year of prosperity for Da Nang tourism industry. With the accumulated experience, along with fully equipped and quality-assured infrastructure, Da Nang tourism industry is always ready to welcome a large number of international cruise ship visitors in 2024.

During the Lunar New Year 2024, the total number of visitors to Da Nang is estimated to reach nearly 362,000, an increase of 23% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 172,000, domestic visitors are estimated to reach 190,000.
