Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University Vu Hai Quan has just signed a decision to assign the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to coordinate with the University of Economics and Law to pilot university-level training in Korean business and commerce.
This is a new major that is being trained for the first time in Vietnam and is also the first interdisciplinary, inter-school training program of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

By studying this program, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills to communicate in Korean, understand Korean culture, history and people, Korean business and trade trends as well as knowledge of modern management and administration...
In particular, upon completing the Korean business and commerce program, if students meet the credit requirements, they can receive an additional regular undergraduate degree in Korean Studies from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities or a regular undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Economics and Law.
According to information from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in the context that Korea is the largest investor in Vietnam and there are currently more than 9,000 Korean enterprises operating in Vietnam, the two countries are in the top 3 trading partners of each other, the demand for highly qualified human resources in the interdisciplinary field of trade and business, with the ability to communicate in Korean, understanding of Korea and especially the Korean economy, the trend of Korean trade and business... is increasing.
The Korean trading industry was built to meet this practical need.
In addition to in-depth background knowledge, Korean Business Administration graduates are also equipped with working skills and good adaptability to jobs related to business administration and business in an international environment.
Graduates of the Korean Business and Commerce major can work in line with the globalization trend of the international community, especially with Korean partners in Vietnamese and Korean agencies and enterprises related to the field of trade and commerce, Korean representative offices in Vietnam, schools, research institutes, management agencies, research, economic policy making, central and local trade and commerce related to Korea, and international trade organizations.
Many job positions are available for graduates of this major such as marketing and product promotion, market research and customer research, translation, lecturer, researcher, etc.
In the first year of training, the Korean business and commerce major recruits 50 students, considering the following subject groups/combinations: D01 (math - literature - English), D14 (literature - history - English), DD2 (math - literature - Korean), DH5 (literature - history - Korean).
The Korean business industry uses five recruitment methods:
Method 1: Priority admission, direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET); Priority direct admission for the best candidates of high schools in 2024 (according to regulations of VNU-HCM);
Method 2: Priority admission (UTXT) according to the Regulations of VNU-HCM;
Method 3: Admission based on the results of the 2024 high school exam;
Method 4: Admission based on the results of the 2024 VNU-HCM capacity assessment exam;
Method 5 includes methods for selecting candidates who have graduated from foreign high school programs; giving priority to selecting students who are members of provincial or municipal teams participating in national excellent student competitions or winning first, second, or third prizes in provincial/municipal excellent student competitions; selecting candidates with high achievements in social activities, arts, sports, etc.
