After installing tempered glass, visitors to the palace will stand and observe the Nguyen Dynasty throne from a distance (about 7 meters), ensuring the safety of the artifacts.

A representative of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that the visibility and quality of visitors' visits will not be affected after the glass is installed.

In addition to installing tempered glass, the relic management unit will add warning signs, prohibiting visitors from touching artifacts, and install sensors to warn of intrusion into the artifact display area...

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism gives important instructions

Regarding the restoration of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, after it was vandalized by Mr. Ho Van Phuong Tam (residing in Hue City), recently, on July 17, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent an official dispatch to the Hue City People's Committee to respond to many important issues.

In the document, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that, in essence, the plan to restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, has been seriously researched and developed with all the necessary contents for the restoration of national treasures according to regulations. However, in order for the restoration of this national treasure to be carried out in a scientific and legal manner, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested the People's Committee of Hue City to direct relevant units to complete the plan, with some notes.

Specifically, it is necessary to accurately determine the result of the restoration, which is to return the object to the state most similar to the time of preparing the dossier for the proposed recognition as a national treasure in 2015; not to include the cause of damage (due to environmental factors, human factors) in this content; at the same time, determining the materials and manufacturing techniques is the work that must be done when researching to restore national treasures.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requested Hue City to supplement and clarify the requirement to only use new techniques, technologies and materials in an appropriate and appropriate manner. The compilation of the dossier on the current status of national treasures needs to be compared and cross-checked with the dossier of artifacts proposed for recognition as national treasures in 2015; related sources of documents (if any) need to be carefully reviewed and evaluated for reference.

Regarding implementation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed to amend in the direction of "The Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee shall review and approve the restoration plan after receiving comments from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism".

Regarding the professional and supervisory council, in addition to the list of members, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hue City needs to advise the People's Committee of Hue City to clearly define the duties and powers of the council.

As Thanh Nien reported, at around 11:55 a.m. on May 24, tourist Ho Van Phuong Tam (42 years old, registered in Ho Chi Minh City, temporarily residing in Hue City) bought a ticket to enter the Hue Imperial City. When entering the Thai Hoa Palace area, Tam acted abnormally and was invited by a security guard to go to the back of the palace. However, the male tourist later returned, sneaked into the Nguyen Dynasty throne display area, shouted, sat on the throne and broke the front left armrest.

At the time of the incident, there were two security guards at the Thai Hoa Palace. However, to prevent this tourist from acting rashly and destroying other exhibits, the security guard approached from a distance, reminded Tam to go outside, and called to request additional support.

At 12:10 p.m. on May 24, the authorities restrained the male tourist and reported to Dong Ba Ward Police to make a record of temporary criminal detention. The Hue City Police Investigation Agency initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused and issued an order to detain the accused Ho Van Phuong Tam for 3 months for the crime of intentionally damaging property.

After the incident, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center moved the Nguyen Dynasty throne to the antiquities warehouse for preservation, and displayed the restored copy at Thai Hoa Palace for visitors. The unit also disciplined and reviewed the individuals and groups involved.

The Hue City People's Committee has also established a Council to evaluate and propose a plan to restore the Nguyen Dynasty throne and has sent a document asking for the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on this plan.
