According to Mr. Tarabrin, the results of the investigation were conducted on the basis of the chemical analysis laboratory of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which was recognized by the OPCW.

The results also strictly comply with the OPCW's requirements for the Technical Secretariat and were released to Member States on October 3, just before the 107th Session of the OPCW Executive Council. Mr. Tarabrin requested that this information be taken as seriously as possible.

Then, on October 7, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov - Commander of the Russian Army's Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces - announced that the country's military had revealed the truth about Ukraine's secret use of chemical weapons under the guise of smoke grenades in Kursk province in August.

Meanwhile, the TASS news agency reported that the Russian Embassy in the US called on Washington to stop covering up and "cruelly following Kiev's provocations with the vain desire to cause Russia a 'strategic defeat'."

Speaking to Newsweek magazine, the representative agency stressed: "Instead of patronizing Ukraine, which is struggling in pain, the US government should seriously assess what is happening and the risks arising from 'chemical terrorism'."

According to the diplomatic agency, intelligence data shows that "Ukraine is planning to stage a series of provocations against Moscow related to the use of chemical weapons in the area of the special military operation."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the Ukrainian military of continuing to use toxic substances against Russian forces and civilians.

She cited data from Moscow's special services that NATO member states provided Ukraine with more than 70 pieces of technical equipment for identifying toxic substances in the period from July to September 2024.
