The upgrade worth waiting for on iPhone 18 Pro Max

(Dan Tri) - According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will make a major change to the camera of the iPhone 18 product line expected to launch in 2026.

"The major upgrade on the high-end iPhone 18 series is the main lens that can change the aperture. This will significantly improve the user's photography experience. Sunny Optical will be the partner to provide lenses and shutters for this new camera system," Ming-Chi Kuo revealed.

Some previous rumors said that at least one version of the iPhone 17 would integrate a main camera with the ability to change aperture, but Kuo believes that Apple has delayed this plan and put the above upgrades on the high-end iPhone 18 line.

Equipping a lens with a variable aperture will help the device better control the amount of light entering the sensor. From there, the camera system can operate better in many complex lighting conditions.

Most likely, the above upgrade will only appear on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max duo. Previously, Kuo also revealed that the processor chip on the iPhone 18 Pro will be manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process.

These could be the first iPhones to feature the new processor. Meanwhile, the standard versions are still expected to use 3nm chips. The main reason comes from production costs as well as technological limitations.
