Microchip Launches PIC18-Q24 MCU Product Line

VTC NewsVTC News28/11/2023

To counteract the risk of reprogramming a device in an embedded system, the PIC18-Q24 MCU is equipped with the Programming and Debug Interface Disable (PDID) feature. When enabled, this advanced code protection feature is designed to lock down access to the programming/debug interface and block unauthorized attempts to read, modify, or erase the firmware.

System security is only as strong as its weakest link. Any programmable component can contain vulnerabilities, and it is essential to implement advanced protection features to prevent potential hacks ,” said Greg Robinson, vice president of Microchip’s 8-bit MCU business unit.

" The PIC18-Q24 MCU family from Microchip is designed with advanced security features to help customers defend against threats at the system platform level ."

Because many security systems typically connect and communicate with a variety of sensors, memory chips, and processors, the PIC18-Q24 MCU is equipped with multi-voltage I/O (MVIO). This feature eliminates the need for external voltage level shifters and allows the MCU to communicate with digital inputs or outputs at different operating voltage levels.

The PIC18-Q24 family is also supported with a non-volatile bootloader option for applications that require a secure way to upgrade firmware. To learn more, visit Microchip's PIC® MCU website.
