At a press conference on September 18, although admitting that inviting Russia had caused mixed reactions, Mr. Obrador said that Mexico had the right to invite any country to attend the parade because it has relationships with all countries in the world .

President Obrador noted that the Chinese military also participated in the parade, and all countries with which Mexico has diplomatic relations were invited.

Previously, sharing on social network X (formerly Twitter), Ukrainian Ambassador to Mexico Oksana Dramaretska expressed concern about Mexico's decision, while this South American country declared that it always maintains a neutral stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

On September 16, on the occasion of the 213th anniversary of the Mexican Federation's Independence Day (September 16, 1810 - September 16, 2023), the Mexican government held a military parade with the participation of 14,000 officers and soldiers, along with 587 technical vehicles and 453 cavalry. 17 invited countries, including Russia, sent military personnel to participate in the parade.
