Meta's new social network will soon feature browsing and post search

VietNamNetVietNamNet06/08/2023

Threads is “on track to become a vibrant app in the long term,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, adding that the Twitter-like social network will be getting new features “in the coming weeks.”

Threads will be updated with features to compete directly with Elon Musk's Twitter (X)

Threads was introduced in July and quickly soared up the charts amid criticism surrounding owner Elon Musk at Twitter, now X.

However, the heat of this new social network has gradually cooled down in recent weeks as the "newness" has worn off, and some users have complained that the application's functions are still limited.

To become a significant service, marketers and content creators say, Threads needs features that make it easy for users to find trending topics and previous posts. And being accessible on the web is especially important if Meta wants to compete with X, a social network that has long been popular on desktops.

On the most recent earnings call, Zuckerberg expressed “optimism” about Threads’ future, but said he wouldn’t try to monetize the app until it grew bigger and more popular.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us, but the pace at which the team is building is really encouraging,” said Meta CEO.

Renaming Twitter to X, Elon Musk begins to realize his super app ambition When buying Twitter in October 2022, Elon Musk said the decision was to accelerate the establishment of X, 'the app for everything', similar to Tencent's (China) super app WeChat.
