The number of foreign tourists visiting Korea in the first quarter of 2024 reached 3.403 million, the strongest increase since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Statistics from the Korea Tourism Organization show that the number of international visitors to Korea in March alone reached 1.392 million, the largest monthly number since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and an increase of 97.1% compared to the same period in 2019. In the first quarter, the number of international visitors to Korea increased by 88.6% compared to the same period in 2019.
Chinese tourists led both quarterly (1.015 million) and monthly numbers, followed by Japan with 666,000 visitors.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea estimates that the number of Japanese visiting South Korea during the 10-day holiday from April 27 to May 6 will reach 10,000 people per day.
