Upgrade infrastructure, prepare carefully for the exam

The International Mathematics Competition IMC 2025 with the theme "Connecting intelligence, spreading friendship, conquering mathematics" will officially open tomorrow, August 14.

IMC 2025 International Mathematics Competition is a prestigious academic competition for secondary school students, a forum for exchange, sharing, and promoting international educational cooperation. This is also an opportunity for Da Nang City to affirm its position on the global education map, especially in the field of high technology, while promoting the image of a civilized, modern, and friendly city to friends around the world.

Since receiving the hosting rights, the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City have identified this as a key event of the year, requiring departments, branches and sectors to closely coordinate with the organizing unit, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information Technology and Communications (VKU) - Da Nang University to prepare carefully in all aspects. The organization work has been carried out synchronously, from facilities, technology, security, healthcare , traffic, reception to communication and promotion activities.

According to Thanh Nien reporters at VKU, the main location of the exam, all facilities have been upgraded. The exam rooms are equipped with air conditioning, standard lighting, and standard tables and chairs, creating the best conditions for candidates to focus on their exams. Information technology infrastructure and internet connections have been checked and upgraded to ensure stable connections for exam organization, grading, and communications.

The resting area, library, canteen, and function rooms are also beautifully decorated and ready to serve hundreds of contestants, parents, and international judges.

A surveillance camera system and professional security forces are deployed to ensure absolute safety. In terms of expertise, VKU cooperates with the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City and the International Mathematical Commission to organize many training sessions for the team of invigilators and examiners, to ensure fairness, transparency and strict compliance with regulations.

All staff are equipped with situation handling skills and professional working style. In addition, the school mobilized nearly 100 student volunteers, trained in communication skills, foreign languages, and cultural behavior, to act as "VKU ambassadors" to support international delegations from the airport throughout the exam period.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Principal of Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, shared: “As soon as we received the trust of the city, we proactively made detailed plans for each stage according to the direction and assignment of tasks from superiors. This is not only the school's task but also the pride of all VKU staff, lecturers and students”. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, the preparation of facilities is considered a top priority. The school has conducted a comprehensive review and upgrade of competition areas.

“We want candidates to not only take the test in a comfortable space but also experience and leave beautiful memories at VKU in particular and Da Nang City in general,” Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Cong Phap emphasized.

Bringing Da Nang's image to the international level

At the Steering Committee meeting of the exam before the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, emphasized that IMC 2025 is an opportunity for Da Nang City to affirm its prestige and educational position in the international arena, and at the same time requested units to ensure preparation progress, absolute confidentiality of exam questions and results, and effective communication organization to spread the image of Da Nang City as a hospitable and dynamic city.

With careful preparation in both expertise and logistics, Da Nang City expects IMC 2025 to be successful, leaving a deep impression on candidates, parents, international friends, and opening up more opportunities for educational and scientific cooperation in the future.

“This is an important exam, contributing to affirming the prestige and educational position of Da Nang in the international arena. Departments, agencies, and sponsors proactively coordinate, actively prepare facilities, have plans to ensure absolute security and safety for the exam, organize communications, promote, and spread the image of Da Nang to international friends,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

The International Mathematics Competition (IMC) is an annual academic playground for primary and secondary school students (in the EMIC – Upper Primary, IWYMIC – Lower Secondary groups).

In 2025, IMC will be held for the first time in Vietnam under the name VIMC 2025 (Vietnam International Mathematics Competition) from August 14-19 in Da Nang City, hosted by Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU) - Da Nang University as the main venue.

The VIMC 2025 exam structure includes two main contents: individual round and team round.

The test content revolves around areas such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, combinatorics, logic and strategic thinking.

The exam is written in English (the official language of the exam) and may include a local language translation to ensure that candidates understand the requirements. The exam is written, marked and supervised according to international standards, with the participation of judges and invigilators from many countries. Candidates with outstanding achievements will be awarded cups, gold, silver, bronze medals, commemorative medals and international certificates.

In addition, the contest also has additional prizes such as: individual test team prize, team test team prize, special cultural exchange prize, Puzzle Challenge game prize.
