With the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term was held from October 16 to 18.

The Congress has the task of comprehensively assessing the situation and results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2019-2024, and setting out the directions, goals and action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new term.

On the first working day, the congress conducted consultations to elect a presidium of 55 members and a secretariat of 5 members; and approved the program and working regulations of the congress.

Reporting at the congress, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Huu Dung said that the total number of official delegates attending the congress was 1,052. Of these, 337 were ex-officio delegates, who were members of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 9th tenure; 583 delegates were elected by provincial congresses and member organizations, including: 91 delegates elected by member organizations at the Central level; 492 delegates from localities elected by the Vietnam Fatherland Front congresses of provinces and cities.

The appointed delegates include 132 delegates who are expected to participate in the 10th Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; 2 leaders of member organizations but are expected to be deputy leaders to participate in the 10th Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; representatives of dignitaries and officials of religious organizations that have been recognized by the State and registered for operation but have not yet had delegates attending the congress.

The youngest delegate attending the congress was Ms. Thi Ha, 20 years old, born in 2004, a representative of the Stieng ethnic group, Phu Nghia commune, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province. The oldest delegate was Major General Vo So, 95 years old, born in 1929, President of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association of Vietnam.

On the afternoon of October 16, the congress also discussed and considered many important contents such as: Report reviewing the activities of the Central Committee, the Presidium and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term IX, 2019-2024; Proposal to amend and supplement the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term IX; approval of amendments and supplements to the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, etc.

Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Huu Dung affirmed that in the 2019-2024 term, the Committee, the Presidium, and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 9th tenure, have inherited and promoted the experiences in the activities of previous terms, continued to innovate the content and methods of operation, been flexible and creative in organization and implementation, basically completed the quality and effectiveness of the tasks set out in the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2019-2024 and the issues raised in the new situation; always focused on enhancing the representative role, protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people; promoting the people's mastery; participating in Party and State building...

The Presidium has issued many important conclusions, resolutions and activities, of which the most notable are the Call for "All people unite, make efforts to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic"; organize the launching ceremony of the Program "millions of loving hearts - thousands of happy roofs"; implement the Project to mobilize support for building great solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province towards the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory; issue a call to respond to the emulation movement of the whole country joining hands to "Eliminate temporary houses, dilapidated houses"; promptly organize the launching ceremony and issue a call to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.

From the practical organization and operation of the Central Committee, the Presidium, and the Standing Committee of the 9th term, 2019-2024, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung pointed out 6 lessons learned.

Firstly , the determination of the content of activities must closely follow the leadership of the Party, policies and laws of the State; promptly adjust and supplement the action program and annual plan for emerging issues to adapt to the new situation and requirements for the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. For new and difficult contents, it is necessary to resolutely and promptly evaluate the results and draw lessons.

Second , the task of building and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc must be thoroughly understood and resolutely implemented; creatively organized and implemented, suitable to each subject, social class, locality and region; resolutely fight and prevent plots to divide the people from the Party and State, and sabotage the great national unity bloc.

Third , build a collective of the Committee, the Presidium and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front that is united, consensual, truly dedicated, responsible, has strong political will, and has knowledge and practical experience in front activities.

Fourth , innovate the organization, content and methods of operation of the front, strongly focus on the grassroots, front cadres must be truly close to the people, respect the people.

Fifth , listening and fully reflecting the will and aspirations of the people is an important factor, promptly making timely recommendations to the Party and State.

Sixth , proactively research, accurately forecast the situation, have appropriate solutions, flexibly adapt to international fluctuations and the country's integration process on the principle of ensuring the highest national and ethnic interests.
