This afternoon, in the capital Seoul, General Secretary To Lam met with Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Woo Won Sik.

National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Sik warmly welcomed and believed that the General Secretary 's visit would create new momentum, contributing to promoting and further deepening the Korea-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Sik congratulated Vietnam on its recent development achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam.

He believes that with its potential and determination, Vietnam will continue to develop even more strongly in the coming time, soon completing the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in all areas, and wished to deepen the Vietnam-Korea cooperation in a practical manner, commensurate with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as well as the great development potential of the two countries, in which parliamentary cooperation plays an important role.

The two leaders highly appreciated the good cooperation results between the two countries' National Assemblies; agreed to promote the role of the two countries' legislative bodies in coordinating, supporting and urging ministries, branches and localities to implement cooperation agreements signed between the two governments; and promote the connection between the two economies to develop substantially, effectively and comprehensively.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides continue to effectively and comprehensively implement the contents of the cooperation agreement between the two countries’ National Assemblies; promote cooperation and exchanges between the two countries’ National Assemblies, increase delegation exchanges and exchanges between parliamentarians and young parliamentarians; and promote the bridging role of friendship parliamentary groups of each country.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides cooperate closely and effectively implement bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms, such as continuing to further open the door for Vietnam's key export goods to the Korean market, thereby soon completing the goal of raising bilateral trade turnover to 150 billion USD by 2030.

In addition, promote labor cooperation, train high-quality human resources; pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate, live, study and work in Korea; especially create conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to become members of the Korean National Assembly in the near future...

Actively consider simplifying visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens

Previously, on August 11, General Secretary To Lam met with host country Prime Minister Kim Min Seok.

The two countries have become trusted partners, cooperating closely at the strategic level, in which economic cooperation is always a bright spot in bilateral relations. In particular, Korea continues to maintain its No. 1 position in direct investment (reaching 87 billion USD), No. 2 position in official development assistance (ODA, with 4 billion USD in the 2025-2030 period) and No. 3 in trade (reaching 81.5 billion USD).

The two leaders shared their views on continuing to promote more substantive, effective and comprehensive economic cooperation, creating a glue to firmly bind the interests between the two countries...

General Secretary To Lam suggested that Korea step up support for Vietnamese enterprises to access Korean e-commerce channels; facilitate trade, open markets for each other's goods; and support capacity building for Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain of Korean enterprises.

In addition, Korean enterprises are encouraged to expand their investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of infrastructure development, high-tech electronic equipment manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, smart cities, etc.

Prime Minister Kim Min Seok hopes that Vietnam will pay attention to and create conditions for Korean enterprises to participate in key projects such as cooperation in developing nuclear power with advanced Korean technology, energy infrastructure projects, digital infrastructure, climate change adaptation infrastructure, and high-speed railways.

Korea continues to expand the scale of non-refundable aid, especially in the fields of research and development (R&D) and innovation.

General Secretary To Lam said that science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and human resource training need to become new pillars of bilateral relations.

The General Secretary hopes that the two sides will coordinate to develop strategic technology industries, strengthen cooperation in the fields of telecommunications, information technology, e-government, biotechnology, climate technology, nanotechnology, clean energy and renewable energy...

The General Secretary proposed that the Korean Government continue to consider visa simplification and move towards visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens entering the country.

Prime Minister Kim Min Seok affirmed that the Korean Government is actively considering simplifying visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens and continuing to strengthen support measures for foreign brides, including Vietnamese brides.
