Math: Long, New and Difficult
Ms. Bui Thi Oanh commented that the math reference test has 70% of 12th grade knowledge and 30% of 11th grade knowledge (previously 11th grade knowledge accounted for 10%). For students, this is a long, new and difficult test. The level of recognition and understanding accounts for about 6.5 points, but only the 3-point multiple choice part 1 is favorable for students. To get 6-7 points, students need to really understand the test, read the given hypothesis carefully, have solid knowledge, be proficient in formulas, and apply mathematics to real life.
This year's 12th graders will be the first to take the high school graduation exam using the new exam questions.
Literature: Hard to get many high scores
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam said that the sample test has a familiar structure with two main parts: reading comprehension and writing, with a score ratio of 4/6 (instead of 3/7 as before). The test material selection is not too difficult, but still ensures novelty. In the writing section, the literary argumentation question has changed: analyzing a small idea of the content, which has greatly reduced the psychological pressure on candidates. However, students need to clearly understand the characteristics of the genre, requiring better reading and understanding of the genre, so it is not easy to write.
English: Highly applicable
Ms. Nguyen Lien Huong commented: The reference test no longer tests students' knowledge of grammar and vocabulary through separate questions but has been changed to fill-in-the-blank exercises to complete paragraphs. This helps students understand the application of English grammar and vocabulary in specific contexts. The test also adds new types of exercises such as arranging sentences to complete conversations, paragraphs, and letters, helping to test and evaluate students' higher-level thinking and language application ability, not simply testing memorization. The new test has higher applicability and higher knowledge requirements for students, suitable for the method of using graduation exam scores to consider university and college admission.
New exams: High differentiation
Economics - law, information technology are new subjects in the high school graduation exam from 2025. Commenting on the way the information technology subject is designed, Mr. Pham Duc Vuong said that the knowledge content in the exam covers many areas in information technology such as: AI, computer networks, HTML/CSS, programming, databases, information technology ethics. There is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
According to Mr. Vuong, the exam questions have a variety of difficulty levels, from basic questions to questions that require analytical and synthetic thinking. Some questions require students to have in-depth knowledge and good application skills. The exam questions are also highly differentiated.
Regarding the subject of economic and legal education, Mr. Vu Huy Nghia said that the proportion of recognition and understanding questions in the reference exam accounts for about 6/10 points in the exam; 4/10 points are still application questions with a high level of classification, quite difficult for students to choose the exam subject for graduation; suitable for universities and colleges to use the admission results to the school. The reference exam has application questions, students need to analyze the situation, combine with the knowledge they have learned to handle. Besides, there are questions that require connection of many parts or application of practical knowledge to answer.
