Every year, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital performs nearly 50,000 deliveries and cesarean sections. This is one of three public hospitals (along with Hanoi Heart Hospital and Hanoi Oncology Hospital) that are classified as specialized. Over the years, the hospital has transferred many advanced obstetric techniques to lower levels, helping to detect fetal abnormalities early and promptly transfer them to higher levels for treatment.

Last year, many serious cases were saved thanks to close coordination between the hospital and frontline units such as Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Heart Hospital.
The leader of the Central Obstetrics Hospital said that in 2025, the unit aims to put the second facility (located next to Thang Long Avenue through Quoc Oai District (Hanoi) into operation in the second quarter. The second facility has 28 departments, rooms, examination and treatment areas, and specialized technical areas. The hospital also puts into operation key services such as establishing a fetal intervention center; reproductive support, prenatal and neonatal screening and diagnosis; stem cells, cancer and neonatal.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, on average, during the 3 days of Lunar New Year, the whole country welcomed about 7,000 newborns. During the 3 days of the 2024 Giap Thin Lunar New Year, the whole country had nearly 7,700 newborns, an increase of 9.6% compared to the same period of the 2023 Quy Mao Lunar New Year.
In Ho Chi Minh City , on the eve of the Lunar New Year, the babies of the new year cried out in the happiness of their families and doctors.

At the same time, doctors and nurses at Hung Vuong Hospital also welcomed another baby girl by natural birth.
Just a few minutes later, in the operating room, twin boys were born healthy, just a few minutes apart.

Meanwhile, at Tu Du Hospital, the first babies of the year of the Snake also cried out at birth. Speaking to VietNamNet reporters, a hospital representative said that at the moment of transition from the old year to the new year, the unit welcomed 9 newborn citizens.
During the New Year's Eve shift this year, the hospital arranged about 370 medical staff to ensure care and monitoring of pregnant women and patients.
