According to the financial reports of the second quarter of 2025 of 28 commercial banks (excluding 4 banks with compulsory transfers, BaoVietBank and PVCombank), the total amount of customer deposits as of June 30, 2025 has reached a record of 14.09 million billion VND, an increase of approximately 1 million billion VND, equivalent to 7.51% compared to December 31, 2024.

It is not surprising that the Big4 group of state-owned commercial banks continues to dominate joint stock commercial banks (JSC) in terms of market share of mobilization.

As of June 30, the total amount of customer deposits at these 4 banks reached 7.4 million billion VND, accounting for 52% of the market share of the 28 commercial banks that have published reports.

Not only leading in lending market share, BIDV also leads in mobilization market share with 2.05 million billion VND, up 6.31%.

Ranked second in terms of ability to attract customer deposits is Agribank , with customer deposit balance up to 2.04 million billion VND, an increase of 6.51% compared to the end of 2024.

This is the first time both BIDV and Agribank have achieved customer deposits exceeding VND2 million billion. This is a new record in the banking industry.

VietinBank ranked third in terms of deposit attraction with more than VND1.71 trillion, up 7.1% compared to the end of last year.

With approximately 1.6 million billion VND mobilized as of June 30, an increase of 4.91% compared to the end of last year, Vietcombank ranked fourth in terms of capital mobilization.

In general, the market share of the four state-owned giants is as follows: BIDV 14.56%; Agribank 14.50%; VietinBank 12.18% and Vietcombank 11.28%.

Besides the state-owned banking group, joint stock commercial banks also recorded positive mobilization results in the first half of the year.

Of which, Military Bank (MB) leads with a 13% mobilization growth in the first 6 months of the year, reaching 783,000 billion VND, accounting for 5.55% market share in capital mobilization.

At the Investors Conference recently held by MB, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Nga, MB's Finance Director, said that MB's capital mobilization increased by more than 13% in the first 6 months of the year.

Notably, MB's demand deposits (CASA) ratio accounts for 38% of total mobilization. Absolute CASA reached VND 297,000 billion, up 24% over the same period in 2024.

The proportion of CASA from individual customers remained at 52%, equivalent to VND 155,000 billion, mainly due to the number of individual customer accounts increasing by about 2.2 million accounts in the first 6 months of the year.

MB has surpassed Techcombank to become the leading bank in CASA ratio for two consecutive quarters.

Ranked second among joint stock commercial banks in capital mobilization is Sacombank, with VND618,228 billion as of June 30, up 10% compared to the end of last year, accounting for 4.39% of market share.

VPBank ranked third with VND616,000 billion in customer deposits as of June 30, a sharp increase of 26.8% compared to December 31, 2024, becoming the bank with the highest customer deposit growth, accounting for 4.37% of the deposit market share. This is also the second bank in terms of loan growth rate in the first 6 months of the year with a loan growth rate of 20.76%.

The remaining banks in the Top 10 banks mobilizing the most customers in the first half of this year include: ACB VND 569,000 billion (up 5.57%); SHB VND 557,320 billion (up 12.34%) and Techcombank VND 549,000 billion (up 2.25%).

Thus, the Top 10 banks leading in deposit mobilization in the first 6 months of the year are holding up to 78.71% of the market share of mobilization among 28 commercial banks. The total amount of customer deposits at these 10 banks as of June 30 was 11.1 quadrillion VND. Of which, the Big4 banking group alone mobilized 7.4 quadrillion VND.

In terms of mobilization growth rate compared to the end of 2024, ABBank leads with 35.56%, VPBank 26.8%, Nam A Bank 24.22%, and NCB 20%. These are also the banks with the highest credit growth rate in the first half of 2025.
