Last night (November 14), the music night "Kenny G Live In Vietnam" opened the series of charity art projects "Good Morning Vietnam" jointly organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group at the My Dinh National Convention Center (Hanoi). More than 4,000 audiences had to line up early to be immersed in the enchanting saxophone sounds of the "legend" Kenny G.

Kenny G surprised the audience when he opened the show with "Home" from the audience seats, implying his second return home in nearly a decade. Kenny was still elegant with his familiar blue suit and long curly hair like 8 years ago when he first came to Vietnam to perform. However, his trumpet was more contemplative and emotional. In the song "Silhouette", Kenny G still refused to return to the stage with the band but continued to stand in the first row as if to have a closer connection with his audience.

Keeping his promise, in a short time, Kenny G learned to say some Vietnamese sentences to communicate with the audience. Because Vietnamese is difficult to pronounce, the "saxophone legend" sweated to remember what he needed to say. He said: "Hello everyone. I'm sorry that my Vietnamese is not very good, but I will try. This is our second time in Vietnam. We are very happy to be back here. Thank you for coming here tonight. And now we will perform a song called "Havana". Thank you very much". Although it was very difficult to say these words in Vietnamese, the audience felt Kenny G's heart and effort.

For more than 2 hours, Kenny G took the 4,000 audience members into a musical "maze" when performing 17 songs, many of which are associated with the memories of many generations such as: "Forever in love", "Going home", "The moment", "My heart will go on" - the theme song of the movie "Titanic". At the age of 67, Kenny G still had plenty of energy when mastering his saxophone throughout the show.

He performed almost without stopping, only having a few moments when he temporarily retreated from the stage to make room for his 5 band members to shine with top-notch solos. The band has been with Kenny G for the past 3 decades. And towards the end, Kenny G showed more and more the class of a "saxophone legend" when continuously performing difficult musical passages that required excellent technique and good emotional control.

Kenny G's trumpet last night was not flashy or colorful but really close. There were times when he surprised the audience by playing a long note with a rare thick breath. Kenny G is worthy of being an artist who has maintained a note for 45 minutes since 1997, which helped him get into the Guinness Book of Records. The continuous applause during Kenny G's performance was enough to see the admiration of the audience for him.

During the music night, the audience was immersed in the immortal melody of "Forever in love" with the background image of the Rooster and Hen Islet in Ha Long Bay. There were three times when the famous landscape of Vietnam appeared with Kenny G's trumpet on stage: when the melody of "Going Home" sounded, the image of terraced fields of the ethnic minorities in the Northern mountainous region appeared, the melody of "Forever in love" played, the image of Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and The Huc Bridge also appeared shimmeringly.

Kenny G is so happy to be back in Vietnam and eat chicken pho every morning.

Sharing in the middle of the show, Kenny G said he was very happy to return to Vietnam this time and revealed that he eats chicken pho every morning. When he could not communicate with the audience in Vietnamese, Kenny G said: "Is it okay if I speak English?" and introduced that he would take the audience to a traditional jazz club of the 1960s with the familiar jazz song "Desafinado". However, Kenny G and the band immediately changed their style, bringing the audience vibrant melodies with "Pick up the pieces" and giving the solo stage to guitarist Vento Raymond with his top technique.

The finale of the night is always the most anticipated part with Kenny G's classic songs. When the melodious and soulful melodies of "Moon" and "Going Home" rang out, the audience was excited to recognize the familiar melodies they had heard many years ago, in different contexts and associated with different memories. And this time, it was wonderful to see the beloved artist in the flesh performing live with magical sounds.

"Save the best for last" Kenny G exploded with the melody of "My heart will go on" - the famous song associated with Celine Dion in the 1997 movie "Titanic" which won 11 Oscars, of which "My heart will go on" received the golden statue for "Best Original Song". The image of the Titanic slowly drifting on the sea under the moonlight on the background of Kenny G's melodious saxophone brought unforgettable emotions to thousands of spectators present.

After finishing "My heart will go on", Kenny G and the 5 band members said goodbye to the audience and retreated to the backstage, but the long applause brought them back to the stage. In response to the audience's urgent applause, the male artist performed "The Moment" with the sound of the trumpet as if wanting to hold on to this wonderful musical moment without knowing when it would return. Many audience members who were about to leave had to return to the auditorium to immerse themselves in the saxophone of the legendary artist.

Kenny G did not just put on a normal show, he also brought emotions and memories to thousands of audiences who have loved his trumpet for many years in a top-notch night of music with excellent sound.
