J&T Express promotes green seeding activities for the planet

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên13/12/2023

On November 17, November 27 and December 4, the school days of students in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Bac Ninh province seemed to have more joy when the colorful recycled tables and chairs officially arrived in the school yard. Behind the extremely eye-catching and sturdy appearance of this table and chair set are 2.3 tons of plastic waste collected thanks to the contribution of more than 3,000 people, including online shop owners, households and children.

The tables and chairs become creative learning spaces for students at 5 schools.

Speaking at the desk and chair donation ceremony, Principal Le Trong Duy of Ban Mai Kindergarten (HCMC) expressed his thanks to the "Building a Green Future" project for creating conditions for teachers and students of the school to participate in this meaningful activity, having the opportunity to practice the environmental knowledge that the school has included in its teaching content.

"The table and chairs are made from recycled plastic but are very sturdy and comfortable to sit on. The "little" guests often compete to sit on them and then exclaim that this table is made from the very things I brought from home. When playing with this new friend, the children often ask me questions about plastic waste. Some days they ask me to talk about the impact of waste on the environment, and other days they compete to think of ways to "save" the earth," shared Nguyen Thi Mai, a teacher at Phu Lam 1 Primary School (Bac Ninh).

The results of the "Building a Green Future" program show that recycling and using environmentally friendly materials seem simple, but if every individual, business and organization joins hands to act every day, the amount of plastic waste prevented from being released into the environment or "regenerated" will not only stop at 2.3 tons but will multiply many times over.

For a sustainable future

Before "Building a Green Future" was implemented, since its presence in Vietnam in 2018, J&T Express has always strived to achieve responsible business goals, business activities go hand in hand with environmental protection to aim for sustainable development goals.

Collecting old milk cartons, plastic bottles, and broken toys for recycling has become a habit of teachers and students at Phu Lam 1 Primary School, Bac Ninh.

2023 is a memorable year for J&T Express Vietnam as the company pioneers in projects to protect the green planet. Typically, since October, J&T Express has officially put into use 3 million eco-bags at all transit centers nationwide. Eco-bags are made from materials that are durable, safer than plastic bags and are biodegradable or easily recyclable; contributing to reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and reducing the demand for resources. Each eco-bag used reduces 169g of carbon emissions compared to using conventional woven bags.

Along with practical environmental protection activities, J&T Express is also steadfast in its goal of "greening" logistics operations, contributing to the development of green logistics in the country. Through the operation of the DWS smart sorting system and JMS operational information management software, routes are planned for reasonable transportation, goods are delivered to their destinations quickly, saving fuel and reducing environmental pollution. J&T Express also organizes many safe and fuel-efficient driving training programs for the company's drivers.

J&T Express representative, Mr. Phan Binh, Brand Director of the brand in Vietnam said: "Understanding that environmental protection is a long journey, which needs to be carried out continuously and maintained for many years, J&T Express not only encourages green logistics initiatives through business activities, we also strengthen cooperation with state agencies and social organizations to increase resources to realize the goal of organizing many environmental protection programs in the community".
