Ngo Anh 3A comes from a wealthy family, so not many people know that this talented singer has a father who is People's Councilor, former Director of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.
Ngoc Anh was born in 1975 and was a member of the famous 3A band in Hanoi in the 1990s. After the band disbanded, she sang solo and achieved much success, especially with the works of musician Phu Quang. Her charming, emotional and powerful voice helps her maintain a long-lasting appeal in the hearts of audiences.
Few people know that Ngoc Anh 3A is the daughter of People's Artist Hoang Khiem, former Director of the Vietnam Tuong Theater. When asked about not following her father's career, she once shared: "I think this is my destiny with music. Since I was a child, I listened to and watched Tuong plays, lived in a traditional art environment, so I really liked and was passionate about it. That's why I registered for many different subjects. I studied Cheo singing, Cai Luong singing, registered for dance, and applied for circus training.

At the age of 12, I applied for a trial audition to a Tuong school but was rejected because I was underage. At the age of 14, my father sent me to learn the zither and I played fluently the song "Liu Thuy Kim Tien".
But when I was 16, an older sister came to visit my house and saw that I sang well, so she asked my parents to let me take the entrance exam to the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (later called the Vietnam National Academy of Music). I was valedictorian with the highest score. I studied at the Conservatory from 1990 to 2000, a total of 10 years, and only studied vocal music. For the first 4 years of secondary school, I studied with Meritorious Teacher My Binh, for 2 years of college, and for 4 years of university, I studied with People's Artist Le Dung."
People's Artist Hoang Khiem shares about his daughter.
People's Artist Hoang Khiem assessed that his daughter's singing style is still influenced to some extent by the art of Tuong: " Art is a very unique thing, to be an artist you must have talent. Ngoc Anh loved music since she was young, had some talent, and through training she has now become a singer. Ngoc Anh was born in the cradle of theater art, especially Tuong theater, so the way an artist expresses himself to the audience and his work is a bit different. I think Ngoc Anh is deeply influenced in her singing style and personality in Tuong art."
Recently, Ngoc Anh 3A invited her father to appear in the MV "Bustling Spring Comes" which she composed herself. Ngoc Anh said she wanted to make this MV when she discovered that her father's health was gradually deteriorating and his memory was declining. Furthermore, she wanted to make a musical product to express her gratitude to her homeland after many years away from home, settling in the US.
The MV recreates the bustling atmosphere of a village as well as the joy of family reunions of children working far from home during Tet holiday. The setting is Trang An village, the singer's paternal hometown. Ngoc Anh said that when she proposed filming the MV, the whole village was very supportive. On the day of filming, the village was like a festival, many people told her that it was an unforgettable memory in her life.
Ngoc Anh and her younger brother worked together to come up with ideas for the MV, inviting their family to join in. Her younger brother performed the rap part based on her idea. Her father performed the couplets he wrote himself, and also took on a role recreating the image of a national hero watching over his descendants.
''Participating in my daughter's MV is a fate for me and I hope the music product will create a certain effect, extending the cultural source from generation to generation " - People's Artist Hoang Khiem said.

The MV also features nearly 100 actors and staff from the Vietnam Tuong Theater, the place that helped Ngoc Anh absorb the spirit of traditional art, the place where both Ngoc Anh's father and her paternal uncle and aunt, People's Artist Minh Gai and Hoang Long, have devoted a lot of effort, hoping to preserve the art of Tuong for the future.
Ngoc Anh confided that her husband, American businessman John Gallander, was very moved when he watched the MV: "My husband watched it over and over again 20 times and cried a lot. The MV may not be perfect, but I am happy and joyful because the whole family has shown their love for each other and for their homeland Vietnam. In the MV, I honor two professions: teacher and worker."
