Intel is about to have a new generation of graphics cards for PCs

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên12/01/2024

In an interview with PCWorld , Intel Arc engineering representative Tom Peterson said that the company's next-generation GPU, the Arc Battlemage Xe2, is in development, and Intel is also working on the next-generation GPU, the Calestial Xe3. Peterson added that users won't have to wait long to see the Arc Battlemage Xe2 on the market.

Intel continues to push for its own dedicated GPUs

Peterson said the company has “good news” regarding Arc Battlemage Xe2. Specifically, the first chips are already in the testing lab, and while he can’t provide any more information at this point, a launch is being suggested before the end of the year, perhaps in the second half of this year.

Speaking of the Arc Celestial Xe3 line, Peterson said this generation will launch in 2025 as integrated graphics (iGPU) available on Panther Lake processors before appearing as dedicated GPUs sold as retail products for desktops.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, Petersen also noted that the company is actively working on an NPU architecture for its next CPUs, known as "PC AI" which has been mentioned a lot lately. There aren't many applications for PC AI yet, aside from a few isolated examples like PCs with facial and voice recognition. It's likely that the new features will focus on improving gaming performance, where artificial intelligence (AI) can help create more realistic animations.

Wccftech says that looks like that will be Intel's primary approach to AI going forward, similar to what Nvidia is doing with ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine).
